That means it is almost time to start growing again!!!!

Today marks the Winter Solstice – the shortest day of the year and the first day of winter.

For some, it means a time to look forward to spring, as the days get a little bit longer from here on out.

For others, it's a time to cozy up indoors, relax and embrace the quiet of the season.

And for others, it's a time to head outdoors to hike, bike, snowshoe, fish or just get some fresh air.

Whatever the Winter Solstice means to you, we hope you find your wonderful winter adventure this season.

Wildfires can make it hard to breathe, especially for people with asthma or COPD. Smoke and ash released into the air can irritate the lungs.

Planting native plants can help. They can resist wildfires better than non-native plants and filter out harmful substances. This provides cleaner air for everyone.

If you live in an area with wildfires, plant native plants in your yard or garden to protect yourself and your community.

GreenlineSynergy.net can help answer any of your questions.

“I am glad I will not be young in a future without wilderness.”
― Aldo Leopold

Who was Aldo Leopold?

Aldo Leopold, a fantastic hero from Wisconsin, dedicated his life to preserving the state's natural beauty. He was a professor at the University of Wisconsin and played a crucial role in creating the Wisconsin Conservation Department. He firmly believed in a land ethic that protects our environment first. Today, his legacy lives on through the Aldo Leopold Foundation, which continues to promote his ideas and preserve the beautiful natural world he loves so much.

Aldo's quote above doesn't have to be true. We are all in control of what happens around us, even if it's just in our backyards.

Hello Wisconsin!
"PLANT NATIVE PLANTS TO HELP NATURE
Native plants support the entire food web by providing food for insects, birds, bats, small mammals, and other wildlife. This is particularly important now that scientists are documenting global declines in insect populations. Used in a rain garden, native plants help minimize flooding and filter out pollutants. The variety of colors, shapes, and sizes adds beauty to any property. Get started with the resources below." ~ WDNR

"United Nation studies show that women farmers feed the world – and Indigenous women hold vast knowledge and skill gleaned through their traditional role as healers, culture shapers, and caretakers of water and land."

With this women led project, the Houma and intertribal women from the Bvlbancha Collective are building a network of food and medicinal gardens in order to revitalize traditional ecological practices and to provide income.
