In 1972, David Sandel and Doug Gilberg worked as dog catchers for University City.

During that time, their work often brought them to the River des Peres, where they experienced flooding firsthand and observed how quickly rising water could affect areas near surrounding neighborhoods.

Years later, that experience became the foundation for something much bigger.

The iNeighborhoods Flash Flood Platform actively monitors four key locations along the River des Peres, providing real-time insights and early warning capabilities. The system delivers custom video alerts and a robust suite of analytics directly to stakeholders, first responders, and community members. A platform like this would have been an invaluable tool during the recent flooding in southern Texas, offering timely information and life-saving communication when it was needed most.

Wednesday night in Michigan City. MCAS and iNeighborhoods report project status to the Michigan City Renovation Commission, and a big thumbs up from the President and the entire Commission ! Kudos from everyone for team lead Kevin McGuire.

The next day, testing continued for the radio and IoT network as well as cameras, sensors and Digital Placemaking app being used for the various proof of concept sites. It was also very cool to watch the Commission transform from an educational mission to a combined education and economic development mission.
