Meet Mawuena Anenou, a businesswoman in Togo. Before, she relied on a diesel generator that guzzled fuel and still left her customers waiting and complaining because her products wouldn't stay frozen. Today, she runs her business on solar. "With Sun King's solar inverter, I feel truly at ease," she says. "I'm happy with my business, and everything runs smoothly."

Mawuena is one of over 200,000 Sun King customers across Togo. Behind that number are more than 1.15 million lives touched by reliable, affordable solar power. From Tsévié to Dapaong, our 700+ local agents are bringing solar to families and businesses in every corner of the country, often for the very first time. This is what powering access to brighter lives looks like: one household, one business, one story at a time. And we're just getting started.

Since 2008, over 1.4 million customers have accessed a phone through Sun King. Our first, the EZ1, was built in Kenya. Last week, we launched the next generation of a phone we've been building for a while.

Introducing the EZ3 series. 📱Two smartphones — the EZ3 and the EZ3 Pro — from as little as KES 55 a day, paid in daily instalments. The same pay-as-you-go financing you'd use to buy a Sun King solar kit.

Who's it for? The small-scale trader, the boda rider, the content creator, the first-time buyer. Different lives. Different reasons. One thing in common — none of them has to pay for a phone all at once.

Available now from Sun King agents across Kenya.

Susan's children used to stop studying when the torch batteries ran out. That was every few days. Now, they study by steady solar light, and Susan's vegetable stall stays open until 9 or 10pm. The KES 200–300 ($2–3) she used to spend on batteries every week now stays in her pocket.

Susan lives in Nakwamekwi, Turkana County — a community where the national electricity grid is out of reach. A Sun King agent brought the HomePlus solar system to her door, and KOSAP made it affordable. 20 shillings ($0.15) a day. A system that lights her home, keeps her children learning, and keeps her business open. This is what last-mile energy access looks like.

When Conjestina first got her Sun King HomePlus Pro, she finally had the freedom to do what she'd always wanted — braid hair after dark. Conjestina is a hairdresser in Kerio, Turkana County. She runs her business, raises her children, and, now, works well into the evening with steady, reliable light. No more stopping when the sun goes down. No more spending KES 1,500 ($12) a month on torch batteries that kept failing.

This is what happens when the right support reaches the right people. Through KOSAP and Sun King's pay-as-you-go model, solar has become more achievable and affordable for communities that have never had reliable electricity. She pays small amounts. When she's done paying, she owns the kit fully.

At the Africa CEO Forum, T. Patrick Walsh, CEO and Co-Founder of Sun King, took part in a discussion on how renewables can help cushion African economies from global energy volatility.

Patrick highlighted how Africa is at the forefront of global solar adoption, driven by rapid technological progress and falling costs that mean solar is increasingly becoming a practical energy solution for everyone — whether on-grid or off-grid, low-income or high-income. He also reflected on how distributed solar has continued to scale through successive energy and financial crises, with rooftop solar and backup systems becoming an increasingly common part of daily life across many African countries.

As an example of that growth, Sun King is now deploying approximately 350,000 solar kits every month across Africa, helping households and businesses access reliable, affordable electricity.

It’s International Women’s Day. Every day, Sun King has the privilege of equipping women with the energy they need to unlock their potential.

Last month, four women in Eket, Nigeria gained access to reliable electricity for the first time. Three entrepreneurs — selling food, pharmaceuticals, and other essential goods — can now keep their shops open later into the evening. Another, a new mother, is able to power a fan that keeps her and her newborn comfortable and safe through the night.

Through the Rural Electrification Agency's Nigeria Electrification Programme (NEP), Sun King was supported to open a shop in Eket, bringing affordable solar energy closer to the communities that need it most.

This , we celebrate the women powering their futures with energy solutions that support their lives and livelihoods.

At Mwenge Dispensary in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, power outages once meant nighttime deliveries were either done in the dark or caused dangerous delays. In extreme cases, expectant mothers were referred to faraway hospitals. Today, with Sun King’s PowerHub, everything has changed – babies are delivered safely at night, patients receive care without delay, and vaccines are properly stored on-site.

The PowerHub demonstrates how solar solutions can help ensure no mother, no child, and no patient is left in the dark.
