Why You Should Test Your Heat Before You Need It 🌡️

September can still feel warm in Northern Virginia, but it’s a good time to make sure your heat turns on before the cooler nights hit.

Try running your heat for a short test. Make sure warm air comes through the vents, listen for anything unusual, and pay attention to smells that do not go away quickly.

A heating system that has been sitting all summer may need attention if you notice:

• The heat will not turn on

• Cool air coming from the vents

• Unusual noises when the system starts

• A burning smell that lingers

• Weak airflow

• Short cycling

• Rooms that are not heating evenly

Catching these signs early gives you time to schedule service before the busy heating season starts.

For September, Cardinal Plumbing Heating & Air is offering a $49 heating tune-up plus a free carbon monoxide safety check.

A few common heating questions homeowners ask:

🌡️ When should I test my heat?

Early fall is a good time to test your heat before colder weather settles in. Turn it on and make sure warm air is coming through the vents.

🌡️ Why should I schedule a heating tune-up before it gets cold?

If your heating system has an issue, it’s better to find out now than on the first cold night when everyone else needs service too.

🌡️ What does a heating tune-up help with?

A tune-up helps check how your system is running, catch possible issues early, and make sure your equipment is ready for the season ahead.

🌡️ Why include a carbon monoxide safety check?

Carbon monoxide can be a concern with fuel-burning heating equipment. A safety check adds extra peace of mind before you start using your heat more often.

🌡️ When should I call for heating service?

Call if your heat will not turn on, blows cool air, makes unusual noises, has weak airflow, smells unusual, or struggles to keep your home comfortable.

Cardinal Plumbing Heating & Air can help homeowners throughout Northern Virginia get their heating systems ready before colder weather arrives.

Schedule your $49 heating tune-up this September.

For the past two years, Angelo has been a valued part of the Cardinal team.

We’re sad to share that he’s moving out of state, but we’re grateful for the hard work, kindness, and good energy he brought with him every day.

We’ll miss you, Angelo. We’re all cheering you on and wishing you nothing but the best. You’ll always have a spot with the Cardinal crew. ❤️

We’re proud to share that Cardinal Plumbing Heating & Air has earned a spot on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list. 🎉

The Inc. 5000 recognizes some of the fastest-growing private companies in America, and Cardinal ranked No. 3574 overall, No. 175 in Virginia, and No. 219 in Construction.

Earning a spot on this list is a meaningful sign of how much Cardinal has grown, and that growth comes back to the people behind it: our team showing up every day and our customers continuing to trust us in their homes.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Cardinal along the way!

Training week camera roll. 📸

A few days out of the usual routine, time spent as a team, and a parking lot that looked very Cardinal.

Not pictured: the number of people trying to avoid being in pictures. 😅

We're now back to our normal schedule and ready to serve Northern Virginia!

Day one of training in the books: good food, a full room, and a lot of Cardinal trucks in one place.

Today our team spent time together talking about why we do what we do, how we work as a team, and how we can keep serving our customers better.

Most days, everyone is spread out across Northern Virginia on service calls, installs, and job sites. So getting this many people together in one room is always a big deal.

We're grateful for a team that shows up ready to learn, grow, and keep getting better.

Limited service Tuesday–Thursday this week while our team takes part in training. 🛠️

We’re using this time to invest in our team — giving our technicians, installers, and leadership the chance to keep learning, grow their skills, and work better together.

Limited emergency appointments will be available during training, and we’ll return to our normal schedule on Friday.

Thank you for your understanding while our team takes this time behind the scenes!

Huge shoutout to Greg, Jimmy, Isaiah, Luis, Abdul, and Nick for the work they put in last week.

What started as moving equipment around and brainstorming turned into the beginning of something much bigger... our new HVAC & Plumbing Training Center and, more importantly, the start of the culture we want to build at Cardinal.

This wasn’t just about cleaning up a room or setting equipment in place. The guys were building, fabricating, problem solving, sharing ideas, and learning from each other. While we worked on the training center, we were already using it for its purpose by getting some of our newer guys hands-on training.

Special recognition to Greg. His ductwork fab skills really brought everything together and made the setup look clean and professional. He also spent a big part of the day teaching and explaining what he was doing instead of just doing it himself. Jimmy jumped in as well, helping teach and lead alongside him. That's exactly what we need from our leads, passing their knowledge down and making the entire team stronger.

This is only the beginning. The goal is to build a place where our HVAC and Plumbing teams can practice, make mistakes, learn, teach each other, and sharpen their skills before they're standing in a customer's home.

Great work last week!
