At J. Priore Construction, we recently completed an extensive residential project that transformed a family home into a more functional and visually stunning living space. This journey began with the basement—an often overlooked area that holds immense potential for enhancing lifestyle.
Initially, the basement was a simple storage area. Our client's goal was to create a space for storage, a gym, a music room, and a place for their kids to hang out and that's exactly what we did. The end result is a cozy, inviting space complete effectively doubling the living area of their home.
This transformation not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal and usability of the basement but also significantly increased the property's value, demonstrating how foundational renovations can redefine a home’s potential.
We then moved into the existing garage. The heart of this project involved turning the existing garage into a seamless extension of the home. The challenge was to integrate this space with the main house, both structurally and visually, to create a unified and functional area.
Our approach included removing and reusing the garage door on the new 2 stall garage and replacing them with insulated wall panels and large windows to merge it with the home’s aesthetics. Inside, we installed heating and cooling systems to make the space comfortable year-round, and added custom cabinetry and fireplace and flooring to match the rest of the home.
This new area now serves as a spacious home office, new laundry room, new bathroom and butler pantry and a new mud room.
Recognizing the need for additional vehicle and storage space due to the garage conversion, our next task was to construct a new 2-stall garage. The new garage features ample room for two large vehicles and we matched the existing siding and roof in order to tie the garage and home seamlessly together.
The exterior makeover included major landscaping changes that introduced functionality and visual appeal to the property. This phase included the installation of a new stamped concrete pad and a new concrete driveway.
Surrounding this area, we designed a new landscape featuring river rock, landscaping boulders, and strategically placed landscaping boulders to create a natural and welcoming path to the remainder of their yard.
These enhancements have not only beautified the property but also created a more welcoming and impressive entrance, improving both the functionality and the aesthetic appeal of the outdoor spaces.
As we conclude this extensive residential project, it's important to reflect on the journey and the transformative impact of this renovation on the homeowner's lives. From the basement to the new garage, and making our way to the exterior of the house, each component of this project was designed to enhance daily living and provide long-lasting benefits.
