The AVITA Medical acute wound care portfolio was designed to help clinicians address healing through the entire wound care continuum:

✅ PermeaDerm® biosynthetic wound matrix for temporary wound coverage prior to excision
✅ Cohealyx® collagen dermal matrix to prepare a wound for closure
✅ RECELL® Spray-On Skin™ Cells for wound bed re-epithelialization with or without a skin graft

A new study in the Journal of Burn Care & Research reports the first published use of NexoBrid® followed by RECELL® for friction injuries—an injury type that often results in an uneven wound bed with embedded debris, and could benefit from dermal preservation and epidermal regeneration technologies.

In this 13-patient case series, the combination supported outpatient management and avoidance of grafting while contributing to rapid healing and good cosmetic and functional outcomes. These findings highlight how enzymatic debridement followed by RECELL may offer a synergistic approach.

A new case report in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open describes the use of split-thickness skin grafting (STSG) with RECELL® to reconstruct extensive ulcers in a patient with chronic granulomatous disease, a rare immune disorder associated with recurrent infections and poor wound healing.

Following months of failed conservative wound care, operative management including meshed STSG + RECELL resulted in near-total graft survival by postoperative day 5 and near-complete healing by 8 weeks. This report offers important clinical insight into how STSG + RECELL may help overcome refractory wounds and reduce donor-site morbidity in immune compromised patients.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and commitment have helped preserve the freedoms we value every day.

As we spend time with family and community, we reflect with gratitude on those who are no longer with us. We remember their service, their sacrifice, and the legacy they leave behind.

View a clinical case of a 91-year-old female with full-thickness Morel-Lavallee lesion (internal degloving injury). Cohealyx® collagen dermal matrix was used to prepare the wound bed for grafting.

Despite several challenging co-morbidities and disruptions in negative pressure wound therapy care, Cohealyx exhibited early integration at day 5, with full integration at day 15. This case highlights the ability of Cohealyx to support robust wound bed preparation in complex patients.

Cohealyx® is a collagen dermal matrix designed to support early graft-readiness. At last month's American Burn Association (ABA) 2026 Annual Meeting, AVITA Medical presented interim analysis results from the ongoing Cohealyx-I clinical trial in patients with full-thickness wounds (https://na2.hubs.ly/H05DXdN0 ID NCT06787690).

In this multicenter study, patients managed with Cohealyx achieved graft-readiness over 50% sooner compared to a literature-derived benchmark. Notably, median time to graft-readiness with Cohealyx was 11 days, with some patients graft-ready as early as 5 days. These findings showcase how Cohealyx supports timely graft-readiness and highlights its potential in advancing reconstructive wound care.

A new case report in the Journal of Burn Care & Research describes the use of PermeaDerm® to support healing of a radiation-induced neck wound following chemoradiation in an 86-year-old man.

Radiation and chemotherapy can impair re-epithelialization and delay wound healing, making these injuries challenging to manage. In this case, PermeaDerm was associated with reduced pain and remained in place through near-complete healing by day 5, with complete re-epithelialization observed by day 6.

This case highlights the versatility of PermeaDerm, an adherent biosynthetic wound matrix used for temporary wound coverage prior to grafting, to be useful for managing radiation-induced skin injuries while reducing the need for dressing changes.
