The guys are back at it today in the Martinez Marina.

A safety reminder to recreational boaters & fishermen in the area to please stay clear of our dredging operations & be mindful of our tugs & barges coming in & out of the marina. If you’re entering or leaving the marina at the same time as the Lynx, please hold up until we are clear of the entrance. Thank you.

Thank goodness for dredging, right, ? Now you can enjoy the Petaluma River from (Turning) Basin to (San Pablo) Bay! Think of all the adventures you can have that don’t include pushing off mudflats but can involve birds wading in the mud, like Snowy Egrets, American Bitterns, and Green Herons!

Santa's Riverboat Arrival & Small Business Saturday

11:30 am - 1:30 pm at River Plaza Shopping Center

Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to town on November 26, the Saturday after Thanksgiving!

When Santa arrives in Petaluma, he leaves his sleigh at home. Instead, he and Mrs. Claus make a uniquely Petaluma arrival - they sail up the Petaluma River on a Lind Marine tugboat and dock at River Plaza Shopping Center on E. Washington to the cheers of excited children!

Starting at 11:30 am, families will enjoy live entertainment from Petaluma Pete and the Pacific Empire Chorus while waiting for Santa and Mrs. Claus to arrive! The Christmas couple will arrive around noon and will be welcomed by costumed dancers from the Petaluma School of Ballet’s “Nutcracker.” Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their way across the parking lot to their festive tent outside Taps Restaurant where they will be available for family photos. Be sure to bring your Christmas wish list!

Santa would love to spend all afternoon in Petaluma, but in order to hear from all the good boys and girls all over the world, he will have to be on his way to his next destination at 1:30 pm.

Don’t’ let the fun stop there! Keep the festive mood flowing by making the short walk to historic downtown Petaluma for Shop Small special offers and activities.

Despite this, the vessels pictured are many times and in many ways the path a young man or woman start out on as a child that lead to a career in the maritime industry. Many a professional sailor, tugboat captain, container ship engineer, etc. started out in youth sailing programs. Sea Scouts, yacht club sailing programs & programs such as what the Floathouse is doing lead many to a rewarding career on the water. Some of our own people started out early in life & a love of being on the water was instilled in them.

As The Floathouse moves into what is only our 2nd month as an operating boat rental center, we ask for your help again in bringing this vision to life.
Check out the variety already launching and landing from the 160 feet of low dock since we opened at the end of October: hydro-bikes, pedal kayaks, Stand Up Pedal boards, rowboats, the Megalodon 6-person SUP, kayaks, and more. You can see why we've been so determined to offer more and more types of boats and boards.
Behind the scenes, we're planning programming that's equally diverse, from partnerships with local organizations to instruction on all kinds of watercraft, to camps and special programs, including SUP yoga/meditation, guided paddle tours of all types, and more.
Take a moment to consider what The Floathouse means for you, for your family, for your community, and for visitors to our city and region.
