Labor Day weekend seems like a pretty good time to say this…

We’re a non-union shop. Always have been.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t respect the hell out of the union men and women out there putting in the work every day.

Union. Non-union. Different shops. Different companies. Different ways of doing business.

At the end of the day, the people underneath the hood, behind the tools, out in the heat, and getting their hands dirty are all part of the same skilled-trades world.

There’s already enough division everywhere else. I’d rather give credit where it’s due.

So from our non-union welding shop to all the union tradesmen and women out there — enjoy your Labor Day weekend. You earned it. 🇺🇸

Respect the trade. Respect the people doing it.

Saturday of Labor Day weekend and business doesn’t completely shut off. 💪

Hit the gym this morning, then made a quick stop to look over a potential job, grab some measurements, and figure out exactly what it’s going to take so we can get an estimate in the customer’s hands.

Owning a business is funny like that. Some days you’re welding. Some days you’re bidding. Some days you’re answering phones, solving problems, or measuring a beat-up dumpster gate in gym clothes. 😂

Nothing crazy today—just keeping things moving so the crew has work lined up and our customers get taken care of.

Now THAT part of the day is done. Time to enjoy the Labor Day weekend. 🇺🇸

Hope everyone has a safe and great weekend!

I already know I look ridiculous, so let’s hear it…

ROAST ME. 👇🔥

Best comment wins absolutely nothing but my respect. 😂

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Ever wonder what it actually looks like while a bigger welding project is coming together? 👀

Not the finished pictures. Not the cleaned-up final product.

The middle of it.

Steel going up. Pieces getting fitted. Welds getting burned in. The crew working through the project one section at a time.

That’s what you’re seeing here.

I’ve been trying to show more of what actually happens behind the scenes at Valley Park Welding instead of only posting a couple pictures when the job is finished.

Because THIS is the part most people never get to see.

And when this one is finished, the before-and-after is going to be pretty damn satisfying. 🔥

Who wants to see more videos like this from our jobs?

☕ FRIDAY MORNING SHOP TALK.

Donuts, chocolate milk, the whole crew in one spot, and some good conversation before we get after it.

This morning wasn’t about standing around telling everyone what they’re doing wrong. It was about where we’re going.

We talked about what’s working, what isn’t, what we can do better, and what the guys need from us to make their jobs easier.

We talked about better scheduling, better communication, putting new systems in place, improving efficiency, and creating more opportunities for the people who step up.

We also talked about something I believe strongly in:

As expectations go up, opportunities should go up too.

Emergency jobs? The guys who step up will have opportunities to earn premium pay.

Become more efficient and beat planned job hours while still putting out quality work? We’re working toward a bonus system that rewards that too.

I’ve got some pretty damn big goals for Valley Park Welding over the next five years, and none of them happen without the people sitting in these chairs.

We’re learning.
We’re changing.
We’re growing.

And mornings like this are how you make sure everybody is pulling in the same direction.

Now the donuts are gone… time to get back to work. 😂🔧🔥

Who needs a sauna when you own a welding company? 😂

100° outside today, so naturally I decided the best place to be was inside an aluminum 18-wheeler trailer with a welding hood on. 🔥

This trailer had cracks showing up in several different areas, and sometimes the owner still has to get his hands dirty.

I may spend a hell of a lot more time these days dealing with estimates, schedules, employees, customers, and everything else that comes with running a business…

but put a welding gun back in my hand and it still feels like home.

Hot as hell. Sweating my ass off. Wouldn’t trade it.

Well… maybe for some air conditioning. 😂

🔥 From trash trucks to wheelchair ramps — you never know what’s coming through the shop next.

Jaycin spent part of the day working on one of the trash trucks, then jumped right over to this van to repair the handicap wheelchair ramp on the back.

That’s one of the things I love about this trade. One minute you’re working on heavy equipment, the next you’re repairing something that directly helps somebody get where they need to go.

Different job. Different challenge. Same goal — figure it out and get it back in service.

Nice work, Jaycin! 👊🔥

Two hours from the shop, a 100+ degree heat index, and a job that had to be figured out in the field. 💪🔥

One of our good clients, United Petroleum, called us about a job in Salem, Illinois after a truck driver attempted a U-turn and took out part of this awning.

United Petroleum had already removed the damaged section. Our job was to take the remaining larger overhang, cut it back, and relocate that material to the opposite side so both ends of the awning extended out the same distance and matched.

Daniel, James, and Travis made the two-hour trip today and got after it — in a heat index over 100 degrees.

That’s where having a crew you can trust really matters. Two hours away from the shop, you don’t have every tool, piece of equipment, or connection you normally have at your fingertips. You have to assess what’s in front of you, make a plan, adapt when needed, and get the job done.

These three absolutely knocked it out of the park today. Hell of a job by Daniel, James, and Travis, especially working through that kind of heat. 👊🔥

Big thank you to United Petroleum for continuing to trust Valley Park Welding with their projects — even when they send us across state lines!

There’s something pretty cool about seeing your company in print. 👊🔥

Our copy of The Residential Magazine finally showed up, and there’s Valley Park Welding right there in it!

We’ve been putting a lot of effort into getting our name out there, showing people what we’re capable of, and continuing to grow our reach throughout the St. Louis area.

Social media is great and word of mouth has always been huge for us, but there’s just something different about opening up a magazine and seeing your company staring back at you.

Definitely a great way to start this Tuesday morning!

If you see The Residential Magazine around town, flip through and keep an eye out for us! 🇺🇸⚡️
