I have been asked several times in the last few weeks if it's ok to keep running an old furnace that still has a standing pilot light (the kind that stays on all the time). My answer is simple. NO WAY!! If your furnace is old enough that it has a standing pilot light, it's old enough to have cracks and possibly small holes in the heat exchanger. This will leak carbon monoxide into your home while the furnace is running well. Most people don't understand that a 30 year old furnace will run, heat and cycle normally all while putting carbon monoxide into your home. For the people that say, "I'd like to get another year out of her instead of changing it out, she's been doing great for 32 years " I beg of you, please, please put a CO meter into every room. Amazon sells a six pack for $100.00 and they simply plug into the wall.

With that said, I'd like to show a few before and after photos of a few jobs. I now offer an air scrubber system. It's not a purifier or filter. It actually scrubs the air and disinfects the house while helping to eliminate odors and allergens. It's the very same technology used on the space station and some major hospitals. Recently finished a job of installing 2 mini-split systems and relocating the main floor Condenser. This home was built in 1901 and the attic is straight out of a story book so they didn't want to fill it with ductwork. The customer didn't have AC in the upper level and only had expensive base electric heat. The "feel" of the house was undisturbed and now they have heat and AC. The attic was preserved and the inside head units are tucked away in the ceiling for a very neat look. These units run at one 5th of the monthly energy costs versus traditional split units and do not require ductwork. It was a very large project with challenges along the way that only made it more rewarding when we finished. A very special Thanks goes to my wife!! Her help was instrumental in the installation and my sanity. Lol. The homeowners were also very nice and offered hospitality at the next level!!

Now that furnace weather is here, please remember to change the batteries in your thermostat and check your filter. Batteries and filters are 2 of the most common service calls and they can be easily avoided. Stay warm and feel free to contact me if your furnace is not working well.

Please keep in mind that with the cold evenings and warm days, it is harmful to run your air conditioning at temperatures 60 degrees and below. It will decrease the life of the compressor and possibly cause irreparable damage. It's also a great opportunity to test your furnace before the real need arrives all to soon.

Hello everyone! I'm excited to announce my new business, it's been a life long ambition of mine.

For those of you that don't know me, my name is Richard Ga***rd. I have been repairing heating and Air conditioning equipment as a hobby for 20 years. As a Father of 5 daughters my time has been previously occupied by them.
