Most people change their air filter once a year. In Los Angeles — with our wildfire smoke season, high dust levels, and long cooling seasons — that's not enough.

What we actually recommend:
→ Every 1–2 months for homes with pets or allergy sufferers
→ Every 2–3 months for standard households
→ After any nearby wildfire or major smoke event, check immediately

Why it matters more than people think:
A clogged filter can reduce airflow by up to 40%. Your system compensates by running longer cycles — which raises your bill, stresses your equipment, and reduces comfort in the rooms farthest from the unit.

Not sure which filter your system needs? Different systems require different MERV ratings. Using the wrong one can actually hurt performance.
