Sometimes the visible progress on a project only tells part of the story. On the 24" Waterline project on Lehua Ave in Hawaii, much of the complexity is happening below grade.

This work combines a large-diameter utility installation with constrained access, adjacent roadway and structural limitations, congested existing utilities, and trench conditions requiring effective groundwater cutoff control.

To support the jet grouting operation, we're utilizing a specialized system that provides real-time control and monitoring of grout flow, volume, and pressure. This level of control allows the team to accurately shape treatment zones around existing utilities and adapt to areas requiring additional ground improvement.

Foothills Road is a good example of what roadway foundation work requires beyond the drilling itself. Pacific Foundation’s scope included drilled shafts and soldier piles for sound-wall support on the ODOT Foothills Road Corridor in Medford and Jackson County.

The larger project modernized nearly four miles of roadway with improvements for safety, access, bike lanes, sidewalks, and traffic flow.

In the field, that means working inside an active civil construction sequence with limited access, defined staging, alignment requirements, and other trades depending on the work being completed correctly. Spanning two summer seasons 4+ hours away from home, our crews dug deep to make this one a success.

Roadway work puts pressure on the people, the setup, and the timeline. Equipment position, material handling, crew coordination, and production all have to fit the space available. At the end of the day, the drilling matters, but so does the planning around it.

Proud of the Pacific Foundation crew who put in the work on Foothills Road.

Complex job sites are a good reminder that equipment selection is not about putting the largest machine on site.

It is about choosing the right setup for the work in front of you.

Ground conditions, access, overhead clearance, lateral constraints, surrounding work, and project sequence all matter. The rig has to fit the site, the method has to fit the ground, and the crew has to be able to work safely and efficiently within the space available.

As our Preconstruction Manager Cory Perron often points out, foundation work rewards planning. A small miss in setup can create a much larger issue once drilling starts.

At Pacific Foundation, the goal is to bring the method, tooling, equipment, and crew into alignment before production begins.

That planning is not separate from the work.

It is part of the work.

Constrained access changes the way foundation work gets planned. At the University of Oregon's oldest dormitory, the work shown here called for careful sequencing, compact equipment, and constant coordination around an existing structure.

This is the kind of job where production depends on the details: access, spoils handling, utilities, layout, and keeping the work area organized enough for the next step to happen safely.

Hats off to Cesar and the entire crew who made hero moves to get the job done on schedule!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

Pacific Foundation is expanding operations.

We’ve handled some tough ground over the years - from tight sites to bad soils and projects with no room for error.

And while our work is normally focused underground, this time we're going up...way up. From a moonshot idea to the Artemis II launch, our team is going all in on a bold new frontier. Turns out foundation work doesn’t stop just because you leave Earth!

Lower gravity. Higher Standards. Good times.

See you at the launch!

Ryan Maddock and the Mountain Division crew set cast-in embeds level for the new Southwest Idaho Veterans Home in Boise with Hoffman Construction.

Getting these details right is critical and we stress to our crews that quality and consistency rule above all else. Layout, elevation, and alignment here set the stage for everything that follows. Build it once, build it right!

Stay tuned for the video and more from the Mountain Division crew!

It's at the Port of Woodland!

The crew pushed through a wet Friday mobilization to get the Bauer BG55 assembled and the mast stood up on site. It never gets old watching a machine like this come to life. Big steel, a solid crew, plus the drive to get the work done no matter the weather is a site to behold.

Grout plant assembly and final checks today, drilling starts tomorrow. Let's go!

Today, our feeds are filled with messages honoring all who served. For us at Pacific Foundation, it’s not an abstract concept; it’s a day dedicated to many of our colleagues.

We are proud to work alongside veterans who served across the globe, and now chosen to bring their talents to our team.

We see the direct impact of their service every day. The same tenacity, focused leadership, and unwavering commitment to the team that defined their military careers are the exact same qualities they now apply to our most complex foundation projects. They've traded one set of boots for another, but the integrity and discipline remain unchanged.

To the veterans on our Pacific Foundation team: Thank you. We are better, stronger, and more capable because of you. We recognize your service then, and we are grateful for your leadership now.
