Members of Columbia West’s “Columbia Goes West” 2026 Hood to Coast Relay team marked the Fourth of July by participating in the Foot Traffic Flat race on Sauvie Island. Jason Merritt, Shawn Dimke, and Lauren Gunderson ran the quarter marathon while Lance Lehto, Mike Boronat, and Mike King ran the half marathon. It was a great opportunity to represent Columbia West, enjoy a patriotic race-day atmosphere, and log some valuable training miles together.

The team is preparing for the 2026 Hood to Coast Relay Race as a Providence FinishCancer Team. Our goal is to raise $12,000 by race day to support cancer treatment and research. We’re excited to share that our team at Columbia West continues to grow.
Please join us in welcoming two new team members:

Connor Ellis joins our environmental team as a senior project manager with over 12 years of experience leading projects across the Pacific Northwest. His background includes Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, hazardous materials inspections, industrial hygiene, and environmental due diligence for a wide range of property types, including multi-site portfolios supporting transactions.

Jessica Pence, P.E. joins our geotechnical team as a project engineer with more than 10 years of experience supporting public, private, and federal projects. Her expertise includes slope stabilization, geologic hazards, deep foundations, settlement analysis, and geophysical investigations. Jessica is a licensed Professional Engineer in Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.

As our workload continues to expand across the Pacific Northwest, we’re excited to add experienced professionals who strengthen our ability to deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions.

Columbia West is excited to announce Jake Higginbotham is joining our team as a staff engineer.

Jake recently graduated from the University of New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in environmental and civil engineering. He brings an enthusiasm for geology and the Pacific Northwest to the job.

“I have always enjoyed geology, and the location that Columbia West operates within has some of the best geology in the world!” he said. “I am excited for the opportunity to take my engineering knowledge and expand it in such an amazing area.”

He is also excited to join the team and learn from others in the field.

“The thing that appealed to me to work at Columbia West is the fact that it is a reputable company in the Pacific Northwest with great leaders that have tons of knowledge and wisdom, which I plan to take full advantage of learning from,” Jake said. “I believe Columbia West is a great company to grow within, and there is plenty of opportunity to make a meaningful impact for communities of the surrounding area.”

Happy holidays from Columbia West!
The team celebrated 2025 in style with a “Bet on Fun!” night of dinner, dancing, drinks, and casino-style gaming. Staff and guests enjoyed high stakes and holiday cheer. Thank you to everyone who came and thank you for another wonderful year at Columbia West. We look forward to 2026!
