Another crane job completed. Thanks to Edward Jones financial advisors in Sarasota. This one came out nice as we had to custom make and install a new roof curb adapter to get the new unit installed. Great job guys. Here’s some before and after pics that we took.

We are not built for this “feels like” 20 degrees here in Florida! 😂 If you are a proud owner of a hybrid home water heater remember that the water heating efficiency decreases a lot under these extreme cold conditions. Your tank evaporator coil could ice up leaving you with the inability to heat or maintain to your desired tank water temperature. Change your setting on the water heater from heat pump to electric/gas until this extreme cold weather passes, the worse thing is to not have sufficient hot water when you need it especially in this weather! Stay warm peeps!

The struggle is real 😬. This is a email from the local Sarasota hvac supply house that distributes Rheem (Ruud) equipment updating the contractors on upcoming price increases. We get about two sometimes three of these a year from all the different air conditioning manufacturers. Not to mention the tariffs fees, the recent change in refrigerant, investments to stay trained to be able to continue to work on the newest technology, etc etc etc. We believe being transparent is just one more step towards maintaining great business relationships and we always encourage getting more than one estimate before deciding on any big financial project.

This is a screenshot of a customer of ours of whom we replaced the air conditioner equipment last year (they installed a 14 seer unit which is the lowest efficiency rating allowed by code). They monitor their energy consumption and they are seeing a 15% energy usage savings. This doesn’t seem like much but depending on your electric bill amount it can actually mean a lot.

For this December’s energy cycle their savings was $37.56… we all know that in Florida 85% of the time we do not operate on December temperatures and the temperature will increase and so will the amount of time the air conditioner runs which then results in a higher electric bill… For the sake of easy math let’s say that during the warmer months the electric bill prior to the new ac unit being replaced was around $300. Now let’s take 15% of $300 and you are at $45 savings. Now we can all agree that it is warmer in Florida most of the time so no one will disagree with me just using a $42 a month average $ savings.

A $42 monthly savings translates to $504 yearly and $5040 over the course of 10 years… also remember that the unit that was used as the replacement was a 14 s.e.e.r. (seasonal energy efficiency rating) 14 is the lowest allowed by code (lowest meaning lowest up front cost but also uses the most electricity of any combination option). So just imagine what kind of $ savings they could see if they had opted for an even more efficient unit.

Homeowners sometimes are shocked by the amount of money it cost to replace their air conditioners and never take this side of the math into consideration. If you paid $10k to replace your air conditioner and saved $5k in electricity in 10 years then you actually only lost out on $5k… if this unit last you 12-13-14 years you can take off roughly $500 of loss every year after the 10 years we are using in this example, which would drop the loss even more and the total loss could be even less if you paid less than $10k for that replacement to begin with.

Opting for higher efficiency units when replacing your a/c and heating equipment gives you a potential of meeting the total cost of the equipment up front with the total amount of money that you will be saving in electricity during the course of its life. In other words the unit will pay for itself 100%. That’s just the beginning… they also provide higher comfort and performance levels in your home (meaning these units will remove more humidity out of our high humidity Florida climate air than a basic 14 seer single stage unit). Also, if you recently replaced your hvac equipment and would like to get an idea of where you stand in terms of savings you can download the FPL app, log in and tap on the “usage” tab on the bottom, next look for blue wording that says “FPL Energy Manager” and click on it, last scroll down till you see the boxes with your usage/amount information and you are going to want to change the “compare to” box from last bill to previous year. Comparing your now usage to the same month previous year will give you the most accurate comparison of change due to weather conditions changing throughout the year.

At Guardian Air our overall single most important goal when building relationships with home owners and businesses is establishing trust. Trust is something that takes time to build. To support our diagnosis of any issue we lean on technology to help us bridge the trust gap. When we find issues we take a video and not just show you our findings but also educate you on the issue at hand and give you our recommendations EVERY SINGLE TIME. We feel that a person with a good understanding of the issue will feel extremely comfortable on how to move forward with their repair given their current circumstances. And when we operate this way on a consistent basis we help bridge that trust gap more and more.

This video was taken during a routine maintenance on a residential a/c and heating heat pump unit (great job Alex). During the maintenance we determined that the unit was operating on a low refrigerant charge…(if a unit is low on refrigerant this means that it is leaking out somewhere). The home owners had no idea that the unit was not working to its maximum potential because the weather has recently been in the 70s so it did not need to be working at a 100% full capacity in order to bring the temperature down to where they usually keep the thermostat set to. There were no red flags that they had an issue. They were surprised and a bit skeptical at first that we found this issue (these are newer clients). But the fact that we could share with them through the video that a valve in the evaporator coil was leaking refrigerant left absolutely no doubt of our diagnosis. We were able to save them money (less refrigerant lost) and a future headache by finding this issue earlier on during this routine maintenance instead of the usual way-which is finding out your ac does not work properly when you need it to work most. By the way yes… our technicians are trained to know all aspects of air conditioning so when we send a technician to your home to do maintenance that technician is also trained to provide service if need and will deliver on the spot results!

Do your research before allowing just anyone to work on your equipment… avoid a future nightmare! The absolute truth about most companies is that they are all not created equal… There is no apples to apples comparison in terms of what is provided in service as well as in technician training for the price. Training our technicians to keep up with industry changes that are happening more often than ever before is the difference between a proper consistent diagnosis and a not so consistent diagnosis and/or possibly even worse. We are not the cheapest nor the most expensive. We are highly knowledgable of every aspect of the hvac trade and take pride in that. We are also extremely reliable and above all most importantly trustworthy.
