NCAT'S ATTRA Webinar to Address
Crop Insurance for Transitioning
and Certified Organic Operations

Register Now for Free February 28 Webinar
Jeff Schahczenski, agricultural and natural resource economist with NCAT’s ATTRA sustainable agriculture project, will present a free one-hour webinar on the history, opportunities, and challenges of using federal crop insurance policies to protect yield and price risks associated with transitioning and certified organic agriculture.

Part of this webinar will be based on recent results from a five-year national Organic Research and Education Initiative project, titled “Is Organic Farming Risky?”

The webinar will give case examples of the relatively new Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) insurance product, which is one of the best ways to capture the insurable value of a diversified organic cropping (and livestock) system.

The WFRP is available anywhere in the United States and can cover up to 85% of your historic average gross revenue. Finally, the more products you grow, the less expensive the cost of the insurance. WFRP is one of the most affordable ways to protect your organic production.
