The Martin County Sheriff’s Marine Unit has just intercepted a boat carrying at least 18-undocumented migrants just off of the Stuart Causeway. The individuals on the vessel are all adults. Deputies do have everyone contained and are awaiting assistance from the US Coast Guard who will take custody of the migrants and process them before repatriating them back to thier home land. No further information is available at this time.

On Saturday 8/26/2023, The Stuart Police Department arrested James Leonard Ward-Nichols (4/7/1962) for possession of child po*******hy.

Along with possession of child po*******hy, Ward-Nichols has confessed to several other crimes, spanning decades, that have occurred both in Stuart, as well as other parts of Florida and across the Country.

The investigation is ongoing while your Stuart Police Department works in conjunction with other agencies to bring forth more charges against Ward-Nichols.

Ward-Nichols is currently being held in jail with no bond.
