This is my mom's recipe that she has made all my life and my grandmother before her made. My mom tweaked it over the years, and she makes the best fried donuts in northern NY! People used to flock to the farmer's market just to buy them and they never had to take any home. I highly recommend this recipe!

Growing up we always had a cake with Sunday Dinner, well several cakes because I come form a large family.

How about you? Was cake a special part of Sunday Dinner?

When I was young my mother would bake six cakes every Saturday.
Four for the Church bake sale and Two for family Sunday Dinner. I would make three and my mother would make three; each a different flavor. It was fun to pick out what cakes we would bake each week.

This is one I used to make. As a little girl I loved the pink frosting!
