We had the opportunity to visit Hartwood High School in Stafford County, VA, this week and see the completed project firsthand! πŸ“Έ

Opened in August, the new three-story, 290,000-square-foot school is Stafford County's largest high school, with capacity for up to 2,150 students. The campus features state-of-the-art science and performing arts spaces, including a 1,000-seat auditorium, a black-box theater, and music studios, as well as gymnasiums and extensive athletic facilities.

MBP provided owner's representative services throughout the project, from pre-construction and construction through move management and closeout, as well as project controls and commissioning services.

It was great to see the finished school now serving students, teachers, and the Stafford County community.

Another exciting project is officially underway for Stafford County Public Schools!

MBP joined SCPS and our project partners to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Edward E. Drew, Jr. Middle School in the Falmouth District. The approximately 176,000-square-foot, three-story school is scheduled to open in fall 2028 and will accommodate up to 1,100 students, helping provide additional capacity for Stafford's growing student population.

The new school will include modern classrooms and learning spaces, a library, a gymnasium, a fine arts stage, an outdoor courtyard, and athletic fields.

MBP is proud to be providing program and construction management support for the project. Team members Emily Miller, Sean Spence, Jason MacDonald, and Jill Hubbard were on hand for the groundbreaking, joining SCPS and project partners HESS Construction, Samaha Associates, and Timmons Group.

We're looking forward to seeing the new Drew Middle School come to life!

Several MBP team members recently attended the 2026 Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Pacific Industry Forum, where agencies and industry discussed the challenges and importance of delivering critical infrastructure faster and more effectively.

In his latest blog, Jim Brown, PE, PMP, CEM, shares five takeaways from the forum and what they mean for mission-driven infrastructure delivery, including the need to make decisions earlier, work more collaboratively, and keep the focus on delivering assets to our strategic arsenal that are capable, resilient, recoverable, and ready to perform when needed.

There's a reason so many of our team members have been with MBP for years (some for nearly their entire careers!).

For many, it's the people. For others, it's the opportunity to grow and take on new challenges. Often, it's a little bit of both.

Hear from Leonard Morgan about what has kept him at MBP for more than 20 years and why he continues to see a future here.

Even a well-developed construction estimate may not capture the full range of risks that can affect an owner's overall project budget.

In our latest blog, Nicole Johnson, CCM, CEP, LEED AP, and Rachel Fleming, PE, CCM, CM-Lean, explore the relationship between risk and cost estimating and how quantitative risk analysis can give owners a more complete picture of potential project costs, inform contingency, and identify key risk drivers before they become cost or schedule impacts.
