A monumental day for neuroscience and life science discovery!

Congratulations to Karl Deisseroth (HHMI / Stanford University), Peter Hegemann (Humboldt University of Berlin), and Georg Nagel (University of Würzburg) on receiving the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Their discovery of light-gated ion channels and invention of optogenetics fundamentally revolutionised how we study the living brain.
