I think we have all heard the saying "when life gives you lemons make lemonade" well here is a town that was all but destroyed and decided that when they re-built it would be one of the world's greenest communities!! The first commercially available paperboard box was invented/produced in 1817 in England. This was not the corrugated cardboard we are used to today, but more like a shoebox.

The first commercially available corrugated box was created and produced in the USA in 1895. Until the early 1900's, nearly all shipping was done in wooden crates.

There is actually a real museum dedicated to the cardboard box! It is located in Valréas, France, and is called Musée du Cartonnage et de l'Imprimerie (Museum of the Cardboard Box).

There is a simple cardboard box in the National Toy Hall of Fame. Really! Children have been playing with boxes for as long as they have been around

Have you ever thrown away a gallon of milk because the date on the front has passed??

There is a massive amount of food wasted often due to Americans throwing away 40 percent of what they bought, because of misleading expiration dates that have nothing to do with safety.

Do you know what the dates mean on the front of the perishable items you purchase?? According to a report released today "sell by" dates are used by retailers for inventory control. "Best before" or "use by" dates usually reflect manufacturer estimates of peak quality. While some labels are intended to indicate freshness, none of them reflects edibility or safety!!
