Everyone have a safe and fun Easter everyone! 🐰

GCC RADIO UPDATE : The part 15 operations were affected by 2 temporary black outs that caused interruption of the part 15 radio operations. Also one computer that hosts 49 MHz Radio 1 and The Basement 1 is offline and needs to be repaired due to a Disk Error.

As of late last night, all of the stations are back on the air right now.

Coming up next is Kwanzaa part 15 radio programming starting after Christmas until the 30th of December.

I had some serious problems with monitoring the audio on the Sherwood RX-4105 which I use to remotely monitor the audio and do the DJ mixing remotely using Real VNC on another computer in the 2nd bedroom. Maybe soon I will get the Bluetooth transmitter working again and send the audio in the back of the other PC to do the live shows again on 49 MHz Radio 2 like I did years ago. So now 97.9 FM The Basement 2 that also does the FM relay audio for the Narrow Band FM LW station on 175 kHz and the low power AM part 15 station using the small electronic kit and a cheap FM portable FM receiver which will soon be replaced by a better 5 volt powered FM tuner module on AM 610, but still the AM transmitter need to be replaced by something better and stronger soon just like something like the TH 5.0 AM transmitter that does part 15 AM programming for WGWX-LP1 from 91.7 FM to AM 540 for the NOAA weather radio station relay coverage. 99.1 FM is just a ordinary Christmas and Thanksgiving small part 15 FM station that will soon have to share 49 MHz coverage with 49.875 MHz until it gets it's own transmitter likely on 49.845 MHz soon in the future. The good thing about 97.9 FM right now is that it's streight right on frequency and also it's a Live holiday part 15 LW-AM and FM station, so this was a good decision to make to make a frequency and tramsmitter switch this weekend.

UPDATE : 180 kHz had to sign off and move to 185 kHz due to 175 kHz being a stronger LW NFM station, and then the transmitter signed off again and moved to 165 kHz to simulcast WGWX-LP1 which is scheduled the same time as 175 kHz, because the station is the same as 175 kHz that runs just a 9 volt battery and will be on the air during the evening hours only until it can get a power supply installed soon. So both LW transmitters are battery operated.

Note : The seasonal FM stations signed on the air for the start of the fall and winter seasonal radio programming. The stations that have signed on the air are : 88.3, 88.9, 99.1, 102.3, 103.5, 103.9, 104.1, and 107.3 FM. Coming soon, 89.9 FM will be signing on the air starting around late September 2025. These are only seasonal part 15 FM stations, and they will sign off the air January 3, 2026 and will return back on the air August 15, 2026.

Also, the D-220 and D-221 is a good recommended DSP IC receiver for the summer time. Also these portable radios just require a wire antenna and 2 AA batteries, and they are great for power outages and out in the beach before the summer time ends. The picture that I just shown, is the D-220 that I received from a friend as a gift last year. The D-221 is the radio that I bought when it was on sale, and yes, it receives all of the AM and FM part 15 radio stations here at home.

UPDATE : The LW transmitter on 180 kHz and the MW transmitter on 580 kHz are still off the air and under construction very slowly, but when they sign back on the air, they will be airing alternative news programming that is from 106.5 FM. It's going to take lots of time, but they will be signing on the air. Also 175 kHz that does seasonal programming from The Basement 2 will need to be using a new 9 volt power supply soon. Also there are plans in adding a 9 foot counterpoise wire on each LW and MW transmitter since it's good for ground wave signal transfer, not a a Earth ground just like how a RF vertical dipole antenna works. Right now 175 kHz on the LW band doing The Basement 2 part 15 radio programming is already using one that comes from a old shielded Ethernet cable which is good for this type of part 15 LF operation. It only signs on the air only during the evening from 9 PM and shuts off during the mornings at 6:30 AM or no later than 12 PM, but it will soon be a 24/7 part 15 LF operation soon running at 9 volts.

The fall season is coming around the corner, and that means that the LF and MF signals on the LW and MW band will be more stronger soon than they were in the summer months. Also the seasonal FM stations have signed on the air early during the fall seasonal programming coming on the air soon.
