Moreno & Nelson Construction, Corp. are seeking new positions on our civil team.
Positions available are the following
General Labors
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools, forklifts, skid loaders, rollers and other tools as directed by foreman/superintendent
• Operate and care for construction equipment and tools/machines
• Help equipment operator, carpenters, and other skilled labor when necessary
• Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, removing, and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, compacting subgrade, and digging trenches
• Put together and take apart temporary structures, piping, pre-cast structures
• Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including gravel, asphalt, and dirt
• Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management
• Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site daily
• Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment
• Report incidents immediately to foreman or superintendent in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company
• Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary
• Travel out of town to work on remote job sites as directed by management
Heavy Equipment Operators
• Practice and observe safety codes in your every move, estimating weights and distances, being fully aware of your surroundings, doing your part to minimize hazards and reporting any injuries or damage immediately to foreman.
• Maneuver heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials. Create level surfaces, grade slopes to specifications, remove material and thoroughly fill voids using plans and/or surveyor as guidance
• Load and unload construction materials, waste, and other heavy objects from trucks
• Providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency.
• Start each workday with an inspection of tires, controls, fuel, and fluids to ensure reliable operation
• Change attachments, make adjustments, verify information and troubleshoot problems
• Participate in daily meetings with Foreman and site crew, maintaining constant communication throughout the work period
• Store and clean machinery at its designated location and provide information to foreman for daily reports at the end of each working day.
• Purchase and transport oil, gas, and replacement parts to the project site and assist with maintenance and minor repairs.
• Provide notification to foreman and shop mechanic of equipment issues/problems or necessary upgrades.
• Assist coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.
Truck Drivers (CDL)
• Transport and unload goods and raw materials to and from manufacturing plants or retail and to job/disposal sites
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and report to foreman and shop mechanic
• Perform preventative maintenance (cab cleanup, greasing, and power washing)
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules as instructed by foreman.
• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
• Comply with truck driving laws and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods)
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
• Keep commercial driver license and health card up to date.
Foreman/Heavy Equipment Operators
Current Job Description: A civil foreman manages workers, motivating them to complete projects on schedule. The foreman ensures that the crew complies with site rules and regulations while monitoring their work quality. Foremen also collaborate with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project proceed as planned. Civil foremen read blueprints and construction plans, maintain equipment, and manage paperwork. They may also work on the project site alongside the crew as a lead equipment operator.
• Plan, implement and manage construction tasks in accordance with schedule, priorities, and goals
• Assist with production of project schedule(s)
• Manage and monitor site crew attendance and work
• Adhere to relevant safety & environmental regulations
• Manage and guide the use of machinery and equipment
• Monitor & track expenditures while being aware of project budget & production rates
• Peacefully resolve any emerging problems and issues on site & provide upward reporting when necessary.
• Allocate and delegate responsibilities to site crews.
• Monitor and coordinate with subcontractors on site to ensure workflow is agreeable
• Supervise, train, and provide feedback to workers.
• Ensure labor and other resources necessary
• Prepare daily progress reports with sufficient detail to capture potential change order work
