Treatment for HPV-related (HPV+) a**l cancer can leave you navigating things nobody prepared you for.

Physical side effects, fatigue that lingers longer than anyone told you it would, and then there's something that's harder to name: The feeling that this is a cancer that’s difficult to talk about may mean you carry it quietly, even when the weight is heavy.

You don't have to. Support is out there, and you deserve to find it. Organizations like the A**l Cancer Foundation, Imerman Angels, Cancer Support Community, Cheeky Charity, and Colorectal Cancer Alliance offer programs, services, and support for patients, caregivers, and survivors.

In recognition of National Senior Health and Fitness Day, remember that your health after treatment matters just as much as your health during it.

Seniors need to stay active after HPV+ cancer treatment to support their recovery, mood, and long-term health. Keep showing up for yourself.

Staying healthy also means staying on top of your follow-up care. Regular check-ins with your Provider, keeping surveillance appointments, and knowing what to watch for are all part of the picture.

Medicare covers NavDx® testing for eligible HPV+ head & neck and a**l cancer patients and uses. Learn more, and talk to your care team about adding NavDx testing to your surveillance routine. https://bit.ly/4dw63bA

Oncology Nursing Month is the perfect time to reach out to someone who made your HPV+ cancer journey a little more bearable.

Your oncology nurse. Your patient navigator. The person who explained what was happening when everything felt overwhelming, who made sure you knew your next step, and who showed up for you in ways you may still be thinking about.

If someone like that has been part of your care, consider telling them.

A message, a card, or even a quick word at your next appointment can mean more than you know.

Waiting for results is one of the hardest parts of life after HPV-related (HPV+) cancer treatment. Did you know the NavDx® test can help reduce post-treatment anxiety and fear of hidden recurrence?

A recent study found that when HPV+ head & neck cancer patients got a negative NavDx result (no cancer detected), their self-reported emotional distress levels were cut in half. Nearly 9 in 10 also said taking the test did not add to their anxiety. And every patient felt confident in having the NavDx test as part of their care plan. [1]

For many patients, getting a negative NavDx test result may be one of the most reassuring things they can hear at their appointments.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and it’s a good time for a reminder worth sharing:

Knowing your cancer risk starts with knowing your history: Your health history, your family’s health history, and the factors that may increase your risk.

HPV+ cancers can affect anyone. But access to information, screening, and follow-up care isn’t equal for everyone. For many in AAPI communities, cultural barriers, language barriers, and gaps in Provider awareness can stand in the way of early detection. And the impact of this inequity is measurable.

When Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander (NHOPI) patients, in particular, present to their Providers with head & neck cancer (HPV+ and HPV-), 70.4% are already at stage 3 or stage 4, compared with 63.8% of white patients and 60.7% of Asian patients. And five-year overall survival for NHOPI patients is 49%, compared to 53.9% for white patients and 57.4% for Asian patients. [1]

If you or someone you love has been affected by HPV+ cancer or wants to understand their risk, talking to a knowledgeable Provider is the first step.

Ten years ago, a blood test didn’t exist that could detect HPV+ cancer recurrence before symptoms appeared or before a scan could find it. Today it does: the NavDx® test.

May is National Cancer Research Month, and we’re thinking about everyone whose dedicated work made that possible. But most importantly, we’re thinking about the patients whose lives may be different because of it.

Research changes what’s possible. We’re glad to be part of that work.

Women make up approximately 65% of HPV+ a**l cancer diagnoses, yet it remains one of the least talked-about HPV+ cancers.

If you’ve been treated for HPV+ a**l cancer, post-treatment monitoring is an important part of your care. NavDx® testing requires only a simple blood draw and can detect signs of recurrence earlier than physical exams or imaging, potentially giving you and your Provider more options for treatment.

You’ve done the hard work of getting through treatment. NavDx testing can support your peace of mind as you move through recovery.

Talk to your Provider about whether the NavDx test should be part of your routine follow-up plan. https://bit.ly/4dCbu7V

You finished treatment. But sometimes it feels like it’s not over.

Coping with HPV-related (HPV+) head & neck cancer doesn’t end when the last appointment does. Side effects like difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, voice changes, and fatigue can linger for months or years. And the emotional weight doesn’t lift on a schedule.

Many patients find themselves pulling away from the people they love. Meals with family. Conversations with friends. Things that used to feel easy can suddenly feel complicated, exhausting, or painful.

If that sounds familiar, what you’re feeling is real, and you’re not alone in feeling it. We see you. http://bit.ly/4d188w5

Have you heard the term “liquid biopsy” and wondered what it means for you?

A liquid biopsy is a non-invasive laboratory test, usually a blood draw, used to detect and a**lyze cancer-related genetic material that is shed into the bloodstream by cancer cells. The NavDx® test is a liquid biopsy that looks for signs of HPV-related (HPV+) cancer activity. No imaging appointment, no invasive procedure. Just a blood draw, the kind you’ve probably had dozens of times already.

For people who’ve been treated for HPV+ head & neck or a**l cancer, the NavDx test can be part of a post-treatment monitoring plan that offers objective, lab-measurable insight into whether HPV+ cancer may be absent or present anywhere in your body.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s worth asking your Provider. https://bit.ly/4to8kdC
