At CTA Construction Managers, we continue our commitment to the construction of sustainable, green energy buildings. Our teams made strong progress on the installation of photovoltaic (PV) canopy structures at Fort River Elementary School in Amherst. The school, and its energy efficient capabilities was designed by DiNisco Design. The solar canopies represent a key component of the project’s commitment to sustainability and Net Zero energy performance.

The PV canopy system is designed to generate clean, renewable energy while also serving as a functional site feature—providing covered parking and weather protection for staff and visitors. Strategically located across designated parking areas, the canopies will support the school’s overall energy strategy by offsetting a significant portion of the building’s electrical demand.

Construction activities currently include structural steel er****on for the canopy frames, foundation and footing installation, and coordination of electrical infrastructure to support future solar panel integration. Once complete, the photovoltaic arrays will work in tandem with the building’s ground source heat pump system and high-performance envelope to reduce long-term operational costs and environmental impact.

From active demolition to a fully cleared site, our team safely coordinated equipment operations, debris removal, and winter site conditions to prepare for the next phase of construction of the new Burlington Police Department.

We look forward to continuing progress on this important community project.
