The goal of the Perfection Group was to renovate the historical courthouse that is 117 years old in just 18 months. To add 8,000 square feet of useable floor space to the building from the original attic structure. This provided additional space for offices, conference rooms, and storage for records. When the project was finished it created a total of 49,200 square feet of usable floor space. To i
nstall a new HVAC and control systems to upgrade the building to today's standards. . The HVAC project installation included:
- New water source heat pump system with 64 total heat pumps. This allowed Auglaize County to apply for a $1.3 million ARRA grant through the State of Ohio. The Perfection Group, Inc. helped to secure the grant with energy savings calculations.
- The HVAC system will use 40% less energy than the coal boiler and window unit cooling. With 6 month of utility data, they tracked a 50% reduction in utility usage.
- Cental plant equipment consisted of 2 high efficiency hot water boilers, 2 circulating loop pumps, 1 fluid cooler, these were all located in the old coal boiler building. It was designed not to have an mechanical equipment visible on the ground.
- Full DDC controls system included in every piece of equipment.
- Exhaust and building make-up ait was designed to run through an energy recovery wheels to allow fresh air in the building without using windows. The entire project and design, installation, and maintenance was done by Perfection Group, Inc. There were several ABC members that helped to paricipate in the project.
