This video shows what we call flame rollout. This is an obvious sign of a crack in the furnace's heat exchanger (as shown in the photo). This is an extreme case, but even a little flutter can mean a small crack. A cracked heat exchanger means the fumes from the furnace and the carbon monoxide it produces are now moving through the ductwork and into the house.
