Fruits and vegetables are rich in cancer-fighting nutrients -- and the more color, the more nutrients they contain. These foods can help lower your risk in a second way, too, when they help you reach and maintain a healthy body weight. Carrying extra pounds increases the risk for multiple cancers, including colon, esophagus, and kidney cancers. Eat a variety of vegetables, especially dark green, red, and orange vegetables. https://wb.md/3RYTcX9

This Men's Health Month, we're reminding men to take care of yourselves. You don't have to wait until you're seriously ill or in pain to visit your doctor; in fact, you should be going to the doctor for a routine exam every year!

A study from the Cleveland Clinic showed that many men in the U.S. aren't prioritizing their health. In addition to skipping their yearly checkups, 44% don't take care of their mental health and 49% don't eat a healthy diet.

It's not selfish to take care of your mental and physical health – your loved ones will thank you for taking steps to live well.

With tick activity reaching its peak for the season, our monitoring shows nymphal deer (blacklegged) are now outnumbering adult ticks in Wisconsin. Nymphal ticks are very small – about the size of a poppyseed. This makes them hard to spot and remove quickly, which is why they have a higher potential to spread disease.
