STEM Educators: put your classroom into orbit with ISS FASTLab! Think of it as having an astronaut as a lab partner, conducting your students’ experiments in microgravity aboard the ISS.

Simple:
The process is simple:
1. Pose a thought-provoking question to your students.
2. Using a list of materials on station, propose an experiment or phenomena that can be demonstrated in microgravity in 30 minutes or less.
3. Selected proposals are conducted within 30min and recorded by an astronaut aboard the ISS!

Fast:

Bacteria 🦠 on ISS mutated into 13 strains of a multi-drug-resistant bacteria known to cause Enterobacter bugandensis.

Related to a family of bacteria that “are involved in nitrogen fixation, phosphate solubilization, abiotic stress tolerance, plant growth promotion, and biocontrol activity against plant pathogens. beneficial microbes like Methylobacterium ajmalii are also beneficial.

🔬Researchers mapped the prevalence and distribution of E. bugandensis dominance the ISS over time. With metabolic modelling, coexisting microbial communities alongside E. bugandensis are mapped in the ISS across multiple missions. Future Research will uncover which 🦠microbial communities, relationships, and dynamics are healthy for humans 🧑🏾‍🚀for space missions.

Data suggests average XUV irradiance 🌞on Proxima Centauri b 4.24ly away at top of atmosphere is 0.293 W m-2, with 877W/m^2, which is 60X higher than 🌏Earth (Ribas, et al 2017).

Moreover, variability of total irradiance is 25X higher than Solar variability. After integrating with X-rays to mid-IR radiative properties of Proxima, spectral energy distribution (SED) analysis reveals a 20% excess in the 3-30 μm flux of star. This may suggest a warm dust ring close to star scattering light from Próxima leftover from formation process. 💫

Researchers analyzed galaxy distribution 💫at low redshifts to find that dark matter ⚫️does not exist and the Universe is 27bn years old.

Dark matter was believed to be 27% of Universe that did not interact with light or EM fields. The new models: the covarying coupling constants (CCC) and “tired light” (TL), CC-TL examined galaxy distribution at low redshifts and the angular size of the sound horizon at high redshifts that contradicts the existence of dark matter.
