International Society for Advancement of Cytometry

International Society for Advancement of Cytometry Our vision is to advance the impact of cytometry in meeting current and emerging challenges in the life, biomedical, and physical sciences.

Our mission is to foster an inclusive, multidisciplinary, international community by promoting technological innovation, developing professionals in the field, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge in cytometry. ISAC’s mission is to serve a multidisciplinary community by leading technological innovation, scholarship, and the exchange of knowledge in the quantitative cell sciences. ISAC publis

hes Cytometry Part A, the leading journal for new advances and applications in cellular analysis. ISAC also publishes Current Protocols in Cytometry, the source of tested and trusted protocols for both image and flow cytometry. ISAC produces CYTO, the annual international congress of cell analysis technology and applications. CYTO 2018 will be held from April 28 - May 2, 2017 in Prague, Czech Republic. CYTO Asia 2017, the first conference of its kind to be held in Southeast Asia, will be held from October 24-27 in Singapore. ISAC is expanding CYTO University (www.cytou.org), an on-line portal launched in 2014 to peer-reviewed educational material, recorded courses and tutorials from past CYTO conferences, and topical webinars on cytometry technology and applications. ISAC developed and supports the Flow Repository (www.flowrepository.org), an open source flow cytometry data repository that allows users to archive and share their published data. ISAC supports the development of students and early career scientists through reduced membership fees, student travel support to attend CYTO, the ISAC Marylou Ingram Scholars Program, and CYTO U. ISAC supports the development of technical staff and shared resource lab (SRL) managers and directors though reduced CYTO registration fees and travel support to the Congress for junior SRL staff, the ISAC SRL Emerging Leaders Program, and CYTO U. ISAC supports the international cytometry community through CYTO U and its Associated Societies, including many national and regional cytometry societies, and live courses and workshops in parts of the world where cytometry infrastructure is developing.

One week from today: The Next Big Thing in Cyto

Join us for an interview with Kevin Serradas O’Holleran, co-founder and CEO of ZOMP, we explore 3D imaging cytometry: technology to obtain 3D spatial information in flow cytometry, its challenges, applications and future potential. We discuss how 3D imaging cytometry goes beyond current imaging techniques, what impact this might have on biological research, and what trends are coming together to make this a reality.

Sun, science, and another standout CYTO day 🌞🌴

The RMS/ISAC Joint Imaging and Spatial Biology Frontier and Global Health Plenary set the tone, with hands-on workshops, tutorials, and packed sessions keeping things moving throughout the day.

The energy carried right into the Poster & Exhibit Hall Happy Hour — a perfect mix of learning, networking, and fun.

One more day to soak it all in!

The RMS/ISAC Joint Imaging and Spatial Biology Frontier at 🔬

With Prof. Dr. Anja Hauser and Prof. Steven Lee, this session explores how advanced imaging and multidimensional cytometry are unlocking new insights into cells in space and time.

The conversation is highlighting how spatial context is becoming increasingly critical — from mapping cell interactions within tissues to improving our understanding of disease progression and immune responses.

A lot of interest in how these technologies are bridging the gap between imaging and traditional cytometry, opening up new possibilities for research and clinical applications.

There was a lot of engagement in the ICCS/ISAC Joint Plenary Session at 🔬

Chaired by Wolfgang Kern and Virginia Litwin, this session brought together leading voices in clinical flow cytometry, including:

Virginia Litwin, PhD
Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Kern
Jean Oak, MD, PhD
Sa Wang, MD

The discussion dug into the upcoming CLSI H43 guideline and how quantitative flow cytometry is advancing CAR T therapy monitoring. A lot of focus on standardization, precision, and what this means for real-world clinical decision-making.
