The Transportation Research Board Young Members Council is pleased to announce the new Outstanding Young Member Award. This award was created to recognize exceptional young member service to TRB and achievements in transportation research, policy, or practice. The award is sponsored by Stantec, Inc.

One award will be presented each year at the Annual Meeting to a TRB member who is 35 years of age or younger on April 15 in the year of the award. The inaugural award will be presented in January at the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board as part of the Thomas B. Deen Distinguished Lecture and will consist of a plaque and a $2,500 cash award.

The 2nd Annual TransportationCamp Washington DC (http://transportationcamp.org/) will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013. The "unconference" is designed to bring together transportation professionals, technologists, and others interested in the intersection of urban transportation and technology.

Following on the success of this year's inaugural event, 2013 TransportationCamp DC will explore the opportunities to improve mobility through recent advances in technology, such as web 2.0, mobile computing, open source software, open data and APIs, and spatial analysis. The conference will also examine ways to build connections between disparate innovators in public administration, transportation operations, information design, and software engineering.

TransportationCamp DC 2013 is sponsored by Mobility Lab, Open Plans, Transportation Research Board, Young Professionals in Transportation, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

The event will be on Saturday before the start of the Transportation Research Board 92nd Annual Meeting. The venue will be announced soon, and cost will be $20 for the day (with sponsorships for full-time students available upon request).

Registration at http://transpocampdc13.eventbrite.com is now open, and it will be cut off after the first 400 registrants. We hope to see you in January!

On January 12 2013, meet thinkers and doers at the intersection of transportation and technology. Get ready to talk and learn about improving mobility, information design methods, bike share systems, and more… It’s anunconference– it’s up to you.
