Meet the team behind our 22,000 SF addition at Barnard Elementary School.

Project Executive Paul Vayo, Project Manager Gloria Guzman, Superintendent Dave Welsh, and Field Engineer Macey Shao are overseeing the construction of a new addition and turf field to the existing school in Ward 4. The addition will provide permanent classroom space to replace classroom trailers currently on site.

With students and staff actively using the existing school throughout construction, the project requires continuous coordination, communication, and a strong commitment to safety. We are proud of the work being done to help create an enhanced learning environment for the Barnard Elementary School community.

GCS-SIGAL sponsored the Neighborhood Design Center’s Vision is Yours Forum, bringing together community leaders, designers, planners, and industry professionals for presentations, workshops, and hands-on activities surrounding placemaking.

Our Partner & Senior Vice President, Gabe Oliver, participated in the event’s closing remarks, sharing insights on collaboration, community impact, and the importance of creating spaces that serve and strengthen neighborhoods across the region.

On GCS-SIGAL jobsites, our Safety Manager Ryan Monahan utilizes Procore to help streamline safety documentation, track observations, manage inspections, and improve communication across project teams. By leveraging technology in the field, our teams are able to maintain real-time visibility into jobsite safety and reinforce our commitment to creating safer, more efficient projects.

Progress is continuing at our Congress Heights Recreation Center project in Ward 8. Since completing demolition of the existing building, playground area, and park space, the team has made significant strides on the new facility, including pouring concrete slab and foundations, setting structural steel columns and beams, laying decking, and commencing exterior framing.

This Design-Build project will feature a full-size gymnasium, incubator kitchen, e-gaming center with multi-sport simulator, multi-purpose area, and fitness center. Site amenities will include new playgrounds, a turf field, basketball court, splash pad, community garden, and additional park space improvements.

This week, GCS-SIGAL celebrated Construction Safety Week by hosting a variety of events reinforcing the importance of keeping our teams and partners safe every day.

Throughout the week, we hosted Safety Stand Downs across our jobsites, along with Construction Safety Week events featuring food, raffle items, and vendor demonstrations.

Thank you to Sunbelt Rentals, Armor Guys, Powerhouse Tools, Innovative Rental Solutions, Milwaukee Tool, and everyone who participated and helped make this week a success.

We are proud of the continued commitment our employees, partners, and subcontractors show toward creating safer jobsites and strengthening our culture of safety.

It was a great evening at the WBC Craftsmanship Awards celebrating the talent and dedication of our trade partners across the region.

We were proud to nominate Clarks Lumber and Millwork for architectural millwork on our Confidential Interiors Project and excited to see their work recognized. Their precision, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality played an important role in bringing this space to life.
