CNHED’s flagship initiative, DC Community Anchor Partnership (DCAP), is celebrating a huge milestone: $250 million to minority-owned businesses! CNHED, in partnership with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (), launched DCAP in 2017 and since then, has partnered with local anchor institutions and minority business enterprises (MBEs) to remove barriers in the procurement process and help MBEs secure large contracts with institutions like Georgetown University, Sibley Memorial Hospital, and Pepco.

In 2018, LISC DC became an early supporter of DCAP. The program’s place-based approach and support for minority-owned businesses aligns with LISC’s commitment to inclusive economic development and growth through a racial equity lens. The DCAP initiative is a model that centers diversity, equity, and inclusion by improving access to procurement opportunities that MBEs and small businesses are often systematically disadvantaged when applying to. Congratulations to CNHED, DMPED, the DCAP MBEs and founders, as well as the anchor institutions on this incredible milestone! We hope this model can be expanded and replicated.

Giving some business advice to two awesome young men who are about to embark on their own small business journey opening their own gourmet hotdog restaurant, called “Big and Little” It’s always important to impart knowledge to the youth so they can learn from our mistakes and grow restaurant!
