☀️ We’re thrilled to announce our two newest solar farms!

The Sumac and Sweetleaf Solar Farms, located in Eastern North Carolina, are significantly larger than our existing farms and will triple our solar generation capacity. Combined, they will produce enough clean energy to power approximately 130,000 homes each year! Both farms are estimated to begin construction in 2027 and “turn on” in 2028.

Sumac and Sweetleaf will both include wildlife-friendly fencing to allow animals to safely pass through. Additionally, to support the local communities surrounding these solar farms, CleanChoice Energy will donate more than $100,000 in each community to support local food banks, local schools, scholarships for local students, the Center for Energy Education, and more.

We’re thrilled to announce our new scholarship program—the Flywheel Future Scholarship—and introduce you to our inaugural scholarship winners, Jason and Joel! 🎓

During the first 4 years of operation for each of our solar farms, we will award a $5,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior from the local school district.

Out of two pools of incredible applicants from James Buchanan High School (near our Blairs Valley solar project in PA) and West Branch High School (near our Kylertown solar project in PA), Jason and Joel were selected due to their excellence in academics, extracurriculars, leadership, and environmental sustainability.
