Metal Roofs: 4 Myths To forget

A homes exterior works as one connected system. Here are four practical points Missouri and Greater St. Louis homeowners should know.

• They are Always Loud: Over solid decking with appropriate underlayment and insulation, interior sound can be far less dramatic than expected.
• They Attract Lightning: Metal does not attract lightning. Its noncombustible properties can be an advantage when properly installed.
• They All Rust: Modern coatings and correct material selection help protect panels; cut edges and fasteners still require proper detailing.
• One Style Fits Every Home: Panel profile, slope, ventilation, flashing and architecture all affect whether a system is a good fit.

If you see a concern or simply want a clearer picture of your exterior’s condition, contact Washington Roofing & Construction for a free exterior inspection.

From hail damage to a beautiful new roof.

When a nasty hailstorm rolled through Jerseyville, Illinois, several months ago this homeowner was left with a roof in need of replacement. Fortunately, our team at Washington Roofing & Construction was there to help!

We worked directly with the homeowner’s insurance company throughout the claims process, helping make sure the storm damage was properly documented and the necessary repairs were addressed.

Once everything was approved, our crew got to work giving this beautiful home the protection and curb appeal it deserves!

Here’s what went into this project:

✅ CertainTeed Landmark PRO – Espresso: Premium architectural shingles offering enhanced durability, weather resistance, and a beautiful dimensional finish.

✅ Upgraded 6” Gutters: Improved water-handling capacity to help manage heavy Midwest rainfall and direct water safely away from the home.

✅ New Counter Flashing: Additional protection at vulnerable roof transitions to help prevent water intrusion.

The best part? This homeowner didn’t have to navigate the insurance process alone. From the initial storm damage inspection to working with the insurance company and completing the replacement, our team was there every step of the way!

⛈️ HAS YOUR HOME BEEN HIT BY HAIL?

Storm damage isn’t always visible from the ground, and even minor-looking damage can lead to bigger problems down the road.

Roof-Edge Damage Starts Quietly 🤫

A homes exterior works as one connected system. Here are four practical points Missouri and Greater St. Louis homeowners should know.

• Peeling Finish: Peeling paint or discoloration can indicate recurring wetting at the roof edge—not just an appearance issue.
• Soft Or Swollen Areas: Wood that feels soft or looks distorted may have absorbed moisture and should be evaluated.
• Gutters Can Contribute: Loose hangers, overflow and leaking seams repeatedly wet the fascia board behind the gutter.
• Openings Invite Pests: Gaps in soffit or fascia can allow insects, birds and moisture into roof-edge cavities.

If you see a concern or simply want a clearer picture of your exteriors condition, contact Washington Roofing & Construction for a free exterior inspection.

While we appreciate the thought we respectfully decline your offer..

When it comes to materials on the job it’s best to let the pros handle which ones to use. We know there are cheaper materials out there. But cheaper almost always leads to problems. It can lead to longer labor hours, and problems down the road. Which can end up costing homeowners WAY more in the long run.

Working with a pro not only guarantees your workmanship. But also guarantees your project will use the proper quality material that will last and stand the test of time.

When it comes to your homes exterior trust a professional like us to get the job done and done right!
