🏗️ DID YOU KNOW?

Ever wonder why you see those straight cuts in a freshly poured concrete slab?

They’re called saw cuts, and they play an important role in controlling cracks. As concrete cures, it naturally shrinks, and some cracking is expected. Saw cuts create planned weak points that encourage the concrete to crack in specific locations rather than randomly across the surface.

It’s a small detail that makes a big difference in the quality and appearance of the finished product.

Concrete is going to crack. Good planning helps determine where.

When he's not on the job site, James enjoys raising his dogs, fishing, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. We're grateful for James's hard work, commitment, and the positive impact he makes every day. We're proud to have him as part of the Stocks & Taylor team!

Last week, we wrapped up an ADA restroom renovation at ECU’s historic Brewster Building, just in time for students to return to campus on Monday! 🏴‍☠️

Over the summer, our team completely gutted and renovated 8 restrooms across 4 floors, bringing each one up to current ADA standards.

Working in a building constructed in the 1970s came with plenty of challenges as the bathrooms we’re original to the building. But our team worked through each one and delivered a fantastic finished project.

We were glad to have everything completed and ready to go for the start of the new school year!

We're proud to spotlight Chandler O'Neal, who has been a valued member of the Stocks & Taylor team for the past year and was recently promoted to Project Superintendent! Through his hard work, dedication, and leadership, Chandler helps keep our job sites running smoothly and efficiently every day.

When he's not at work, Chandler enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his girlfriend, family, and friends. We're grateful to have Chandler on the Stocks & Taylor team and look forward to seeing all he will continue to accomplish in his new role! 🎉

🏗️ Progress is taking shape at Mattamuskeet School! We're excited to share the latest construction update as this project continues to move forward. Drywall installation is now 100% complete in Sections 1, 2, and 3, with crews actively hanging drywall in Section 4. It's exciting to see the vision for this new school becoming a reality, and we're one step closer to welcoming students into an incredible new learning environment. Stay tuned for more construction updates as we continue building the future! 🏫

A fresh foundation for innovation! ✨ At the Innovation Hub inside Wright Auditorium at East Carolina University, we removed the old, cracked cement flooring and installed a durable new surface featuring custom purple and gold flakes that proudly represent ECU spirit. This transformation not only enhances the space's durability and functionality but also showcases Pirate pride with every step!
