This week, we're celebrating Melissa Simons as she recently reached 30 years of service at CMW.

Melissa began her career with CMW in administrative roles including customer service and, through her dedication, work ethic, and commitment to excellence, progressed through several key leadership positions, including Customer Service Manager, Human Resource Manager, Sales Manager, and ultimately Vice President of Sales.

Throughout her career, Melissa has worn many hats and embraced every challenge with professionalism and determination. She has helped strengthen relationships with customers, supported and developed our employees, guided important company initiatives, and represented CMW with integrity and pride. Her ability to build trust, foster strong relationships, and put both our customers and people first has been a hallmark of her leadership.

Few individuals have had the opportunity to influence a company in as many ways as Melissa has over the last 30 years. Her contributions have helped shape the culture, reputation, and success of CMW, and we are incredibly grateful for her dedication and service.

If you are designing a part, a component, or a full piece of equipment, there is one question worth asking before the drawings are final: have I talked to the people who will actually make this? When you should involve a machine shop in my design process? Earlier than most people think.

Bringing a machining and fabrication partner into the conversation during the design phase, rather than after, can save you money, shorten your timeline, and prevent the kind of late-stage surprises that force an expensive redesign. This early collaboration delivers the most value for established companies bringing components and equipment into production across CMW Global’s core industry sectors.

It's a big day for CMW Global! Today, our President Lindsey Crisp and apprentice Crawford Turner are headed to Washington D.C. for the U.S. Navy Talent Pipeline Program – National Signing Day! 🎉

This is more than a trip to the capital, it's recognition of what happens when local manufacturing excellence meets national defense. Through the Navy Talent Pipeline Program, we're proud to be developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople who help build and sustain America's submarine fleet.

Crawford's journey says it all. He joined CMW Global in February 2025 with a lifelong love of working with his hands, and he's taken charge of his future ever since, growing from finisher, to welding, to machining and fabrication, all while training at Beaufort Community College. Every part he helps build supports something bigger than himself. 🔧

In his words: "We're really building something for our defense system that will end up protecting us if we ever need it."

We're excited to welcome our three summer interns to the CMW team! This year's intern group is working with our Engineering and Finance departments to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the shop each day.

Victor and Braxton are Mechanical Engineering majors. And Hannah is working on her M.S. in Accounting.

They'll spend the summer at our Washington, NC shop looking at real world applications and key business development and outcomes. They've already begun making an impact since their arrival several weeks ago.

🏁 From the NASCAR track to our shop floor — meet apprentice Crawford Turner!

If you caught the recent Cup Series race at Martinsville, you may have spotted CMW Global riding along on Brad Keselowski's Buildsubmarines.com car. 🇺🇸 But the real story isn't on the track — it's happening every day right here on our shop floor.

Crawford joined the CMW Global team in February 2025 through the U.S. Navy Talent Pipeline Program, bringing a lifelong love of working with his hands — built doing frame-off restorations on old cars (including a 1971 Bronco) with his granddad. 🔧

Since then, he's taken charge of his future: starting as a finisher, building his skills in welding, and now diving into Machining and Fabrication with advanced coursework at Beaufort Community College. Every component he helps build supports something bigger — including critical thrust units for U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.
In his words: "When you see something go out the door, it makes you feel accomplished. It's like — I really did that."

And his journey isn't slowing down. On June 26th, Crawford and CMW Global President Lindsey Crisp head to Washington D.C. for the Navy Talent Pipeline Program's National Signing Day. 🎉

Meet Will Askew from Northside High School, joining Michael Britt as CMW Global's second BeauPros pre-apprentice this summer!

That's right! CMW Global is proud to be the only partner company in the BeauPros program hosting two pre-apprentices this summer. We think that says a lot about our commitment to building the next generation of skilled tradespeople right here in Beaufort County.

Will is heading into a summer of hands-on precision machining experience, working alongside our team on real work in a real shop: the kind of environment where you learn fast, develop sharp skills, and discover what a career in advanced manufacturing actually looks like from the inside.

We're thrilled to have both Will and Michael with us this summer and can't wait to see what they accomplish. Welcome to the CMW family, Will!
