Customers garage and back basement kept getting flooded/wet when it rained…
The footing drains were stubbed out into nothing … on top of that it was crushed from the large rocks that were used as a landscape feature .
We added new underground leader drains that run out to daylight away from the house and we ran the footing drains to daylight along with a small stretch of curtain drain along the driveway because the driveway was back pitched to the house very slightly.
We had seen the estimate from another contractor and they wanted to add a strip drain and redirect the gutters to the other side of the house … they didn’t even ask if the customer had footing drains…
First thing I asked for on the estimate was the original plans from when the house was built which showed me there was a detail for footing drains!
Once we uncovered the original footing drains we used a sewer camera to inspect the drain lines. The perforated pipes were all in good shape, the solid pipe was crushed and not leading anywhere ! They probably worked enough until they had their driveway replaced which kept the water from flowing away from the house.
There is an investigation on every estimate!
