If you have hvac equipment being serviced, and a company sticks this on your furnace and then proceeds to pressure you into a new furnace,exchanger. Especially if you have a newer furnace, please ask for proof and get a second opinion.

There is nothing wrong with these CO readings.

There is nothing wrong the heat exchanger.

If you are dealing with a large company, lots of service tech and lots of installers... they will try to sell you new equipment every 10 years, despite most furnaces being designed to last 20 years. Some even have 30-40 warranties on the heat exchangers.

Just a quick update regarding air conditioners, specifically used ones.

There are several listings for used central air conditioners for sale all over facebook marketplace. Per the EPA regulations, this is illegal. Components of an air-conditioner circuit cannot be sold with used refrigerant in them.

There will be a lot of this popping up even more during the next year or so, as the continued phase down of R410a happens along with the implementation of R454b and R32.

R410a will now be illegal to have. You are not required to upgrade to new equipment. Parts for 410a systems will still be available past 2035, yes, 2035. This is not a phase out, just a phase down. Don't fall for a salesman's "scare" tactics.

Just a quick update regarding air conditioner installs this year if you are contemplating replacing your system.

While supplies last we can get last year's model still, for certain sizes, for a discount.

Next calendar year, so 2025, all manufacturers will be changing to a new refrigerant. 2024 model year equipment may still be available into 2025 as supplies last. We do not have pricing on the new 2025 equipment that uses the new refrigerant yet, but current guesses are leaning towards a 30% increase.

When the new refrigerant comes out, No, you do not have to replace your existing system. All types of older refrigerant can still be used in your existing systems.

Are you ready for the cold?

Just a couple tips,
1, check your air filters and replace if necessary.
2, check you furnace drain hose. Make sure it not restricted.
3, check your return air vents. Sometimes these collect dust and restrict air flow. If you have high and low returns, you want the low ones open in the winter.
4, lower your thermostat a couple degrees. Yes, you may need a sweater, but it may help keep the furnace from running 24 hours a day trying to keep up.
5, if your furnace goes out, or can't keep up with your thermostat, give us a call. Schoof Heating LLC.

We had a little tease of summer earlier. Now is the perfect time to get your air conditioner tuned up and ready for the season.

Also, contrary of most hvac companies will tell you. R22, aka Freon, is still legal and available.

Well it looks like the first day of fall last week meant turning off the summer switch without warning. If you havent already, give your furnace a quick test run and make sure it runs. Check and change the furnace filter if necessary. If you are due for a tune-up, give the office a call and get scheduled.
