Keep trying to write a Shootout Recap post but no words in the English language seem to encapsulate the feelings and emotion that we feel after.
Perhaps they don’t exist.
But we’ll give it a shot-
There’s something special about this event.
And we know what it is that makes it so special:
It’s the people.
It’s the people we all show up for, year after year. It’s the high fives and yearly hugs and hand shaking and all the congratulations and cheering your friends on and the catching up and feeling like there’s never enough time to see everyone you want to catch up with.
Even if they took away the racing, we would all come.
Because it’s the reunion we’re really there for.
This year was different for us- it wasn’t really about sharing product necessarily, but information sharing.
Talking about data from the most recent test results at the tech seminar, getting to co-author a tech article in the recent DSPORT magazine, having people come over and geek out with us about the data.
Testing and learning is why we do this, after all.
We got asked a lot when we are going to resume taking orders and that was such a tricky question to answer… because we just don’t know.
We have cars to get running again, a whole lot more testing to do, data to gather, articles to write.
It’s where we began, you see - we took the first year of business ownership to just practice and test and learn and do and share. And with next year being our tenth year, we thought.. what a brilliant time to do that again. Technology is changing, things are advancing, and it’s our duty to the people that believe in us enough to spend their money with to get it right.
The only thing that keeps us up at night is the idea that someone could regret their decision.
It’s why we spend an enormous amount of time doing things properly. It’s why you can get everything on and off with ease, why everything is routed neatly, and why we back our claims with testing and data.
We are end users of our own products, too, and we know what it means when you invest in a product that you’re not over the moon about.
And we want to be darn sure you’re over the moon. So all those questions swirling around in our heads? They ought to be answered. Or at least, we ought to try and answer them.
This year was incredible. It always is. Catching up with everyone is what we look forward to all year long, it’s what we all have a countdown for.
Thank you - from the depths of our beings and the bottom of our hearts - to everyone that stopped by to say hi. For all the hugs and kind words and high fives and hand shakes. To everyone that came to the tech seminar and those that will watch the recording once we get around to posting it. To everyone that took a photo of the booth, of Annika’a car, of us doing whatever it is we are doing. Thank you to everyone who geeked out with us and came to talk about the results. To all of our past, current, and future clients.
We get to do what we do because you believe in us.
Thank you to David Buschur for having the foresight to create this community.
This community exists because of you. For your help throughout the years and for your friendship. You paved the way for a lot of us, inspiring so many to just get out there and try things.
Your stories are the absolute best and it’s pretty damn cool that you’ve lived such a full life to be able to have so many.
I think that’s probably the most inspiring thing of all.. to live life in such a way that you have endless stories, endless laughter, endless adventures.
Thank you to DSPORT for continuing this event. You ain’t gotta but you do. And that’s important.
Most of the staff don’t get to get away from the booth either - they’re busy answering questions or selling merch or riding the cart to and from the gate to help answer questions and figure things out. And they put up with me (Annika) and my bazillion, endless messages (and the 3846 business days before i answer theirs; sigh, I’m working on it) and needs and are always there to help with anything creative that is outside our wheelhouse (we see you advertisement, we see you).
Going from attendees as kids to sponsoring the Quick class is probably one of the coolest things ever. Thank you for letting us be a very small part of the event but more importantly than any of that, thank you for your friendship!! It’s been the best and we are counting down to Japan 2028!!
To our friends Courtney, Craig, Cory, Mark, and Suzi: we love you guys. Thank you for watching over the booth so we can get away to the seminar or get food or just walk around for a few minutes. But for far more than that.. thank you for your friendship. Spending this weekend with you means everything to us, and we are so so so so grateful to be your friends and to have you as ours. Who knew a manifold would lead to this?
Once a year isn’t enough but what a beautiful thing it is to have something so incredible to look forward to
