What do HVAC technicians use to clean AC coils and mini-split systems?

Jason’s latest purchase is a Turbo Tank 2.0, a battery-powered portable washer he can use for AC condenser coils, evaporator coils and indoor mini-split heads, especially in tight places where water access is limited.

Some people buy fun things. Jason buys better access to dirty coils.

How much does a gas fireplace cleaning and inspection cost? At Full Time, it’s still $295.

Jason called around, checked what other local companies were charging and decided to leave our price alone. Apparently, not every pricing review has to end with a higher price.

What does an HVAC owner do on vacation? Apparently, sit by Lake Superior and answer his phone. 😂

We asked Jason how much work he had handled during our day off in Duluth: about 15 calls, 20 emails and seven text messages.

Owning a small HVAC company means the office sometimes comes along for the trip. At least this one had a pretty good view.

Is AC leak stop ever a good idea? Refrigerant leak sealant is controversial among HVAC technicians, and Jason does not put it in every system.

When an air conditioner is losing refrigerant but the leak cannot be located, Jason may use Nu-Calgon EasySeal Ultimate LS/UV. It combines refrigerant leak sealant with UV detection dye. The sealant is designed to seal a leak, while the dye may help Jason locate a leak that continues when he returns with a UV light.

If the leak can be found and repaired, that is the preferred route. No magic wand. No one-size-fits-all answer. Just one tool used selectively after evaluating the system.

Need an honest second opinion on an AC refrigerant leak? Full Time Heating & Cooling provides AC repair and refrigerant leak diagnosis in Watertown, Delano, Waconia, St. Bonifacius, and nearby Minnesota communities.

Single-stage vs. two-stage furnace: Is a two-stage furnace worth it in Minnesota?

A single-stage furnace comes on at 100% every time. A two-stage furnace starts around 60%, depending on the model, and only moves to full power when needed. Minnesota furnaces must be sized for our coldest days, but most heating days don’t require full output. That’s why Jason prefers a two-stage furnace.

Jason is the NATE-certified owner and technician at Full Time Heating & Cooling, a repair-first HVAC company serving Watertown, Delano, Waconia, St. Bonifacius, and surrounding Minnesota communities.

That little tool is a Testo 300 combustion analyzer, and Jason uses it during every furnace tune-up.

It checks the furnace exhaust gases and gives us important information about whether the furnace is operating safely. A furnace tune-up should be about more than changing a filter and calling it good.
