Ribbon cut. Water on. Summer started. 🌞

Today we joined the City of Ogdensburg to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the new Splash Pad at the Elsa M. Luksich Municipal Pool Complex. This exciting new space was designed as an important first phase of the site's larger revitalization. While the pool undergoes a major reconstruction this year, the splash pad provides a fun and accessible way for residents to stay active and cool throughout the summer.

Designing a successful splash pad is about much more than adding water features.

Every spray element must work within available water pressure and system capacity. Every pathway must support accessibility and circulation. Every feature must balance excitement, safety, and play value. And every design decision should contribute to a larger vision for the site.

The completed splash pad features two unique play zones connected by a central walkway, creating multiple experiences within a cohesive destination. The color palette was intentionally coordinated with the neighboring playground, helping tie together the broader recreation area and strengthen the identity of the site.

As architects, engineers, surveyors, and construction managers, our role is helping communities transform ideas into spaces that work, today and for decades to come.

Great news! Our amazing engineering firm, GYMO Architecture, Engineering, & Land Surveying, DPC has finished the permit set of drawings! You should be seeing some progress on the building soon and it won’t be long before it’s a beehive of activity!

Great week at the New York State Public Housing Authority Directors Association Annual Conference!

Scott Soules and McKenzee Fisk-Kamide joined housing professionals from across the state for conversations focused on the future of public housing, community investment, and resident services. GYMO is proud to partner with housing authorities throughout the North Country on a variety of Architectural and Engineering projects. These organizations are a vital resource in strengthening our communities, and we are thankful for their hard work!

Big changes are happening at the Elsa M. Luksich Municipal Pool Complex in Ogdensburg.

Construction on the new Splash Pad is moving along quickly, with new features and site elements beginning to come together on site. Two zones will provide distinct interactive tactile experiences. Demolition work has also started on the existing Pool and Bathhouse as preparations continue for the next phase of improvements. Once complete, this space will provide families with a fun, accessible place to make summer memories for years to come.

This week, we were excited to welcome Ariana Cumoletti to GYMO’s Architecture Department as a Job Shadow! She developed a cabin rendering using Revit and other design software, exploring floor plans, interior design concepts, and the architectural design process along the way.

Experiences like these are a great way for students to explore potential career paths and gain hands-on exposure to the industry. We’re always proud to support the next generation of design and construction careers. Thanks for joining for a few days, Ariana!

Strong projects start long before design. They start with a well-written RFP (Request for Proposal).

We were glad to share insights at the NYS Tug Hill Commission Local Government Conference on how municipalities can strengthen their procurement process. When RFPs are specific and complete, firms don’t have to make assumptions - and communities can make clearer, apples-to-apples comparisons based on real value, not just the lowest price.
