NARRATIVE: On Thursday, February 5, 2026, at approximately 5:45 a.m., a 2020 Volvo Tractor Trailer hauling production water was traveling southbound on ND Highway 22 near mile marker 123.5. A 2019 Kenworth pulling a pup trailer was traveling north near the same location. The Volvo crossed the center line while maneuvering a curve in the road and struck the Kenworth head-on. Both drivers died at the scene.

A minimal amount of production water was released due to the crash. Highway 22 northbound from mile marker 119 to mile marker 130 was closed until 3:00 p.m. Mountain Time following the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
