If people who were in the prison and are out now and have seen some of the things that I myself have seen happen and go on in that place if they would actually come together and do something about it and reach out instead of just forgetting about that part in chapter of their life then maybe something would change
🚨 BRUTAL ATTACK AT MISSISSIPPI WOMEN’S PRISON 🚨
Tonight, our hearts are shattered and our anger is rising. 27-year-old Janay Ward was brutally assaulted today inside the Mississippi Correctional Institution for Women (CMCF). Her throat was slashed so severely it extended into her face. She was also stabbed in the head with scissors. She was unconscious, bleeding, and brutalized until an ambulance rushed her away.
Let that sink in. A young woman, someone’s daughter, someone’s sister, someone’s friend, was nearly killed in a place that was supposed to house her, not harm her.
The attacker was taken by the sheriff’s department. But what about the system that allowed this to happen? What about the leadership that turns a blind eye to the blood on their hands?
How many more offenders have to suffer? How many more cries have to go unheard? How many more bodies must hit the floor before MDOC is held accountable?
This isn’t just neglect, it’s cruelty. It’s violence. It’s failure. We are demanding justice for Janay.
We are demanding accountability for CMCF and MDOC. We are demanding real, human-centered change.
Mississippi, your prisons are a war zone. And the people inside are not disposable. We will not be silent. We will not forget her name. And we will not stop until there’s justice.
