Help out the UC students and honor your coal miner at the same time. What a great idea.

Our art students at Union County Middle & High School are working on a special portrait project honoring the hard work, dedication, and legacy of our local miners—and we need your help!

We are creating split-portrait charcoal & graphite drawings showing the stark contrast of a miner before and after a shift. Selected student pieces will be featured at the 2027 Local Coal Fair!

WHAT WE NEED: "Before & After" photos of local miners (active, retired, or historical):

Photo 1 (Before Shift): Clear, front-facing portrait (clean-faced).

Photo 2 (After Shift): Matching front-facing portrait coming off shift (coal dust, gear, smudges, and all!).

Please send digital photos only! If you have vintage photos, just snap a clear picture of the physical photo on your phone.

HOW TO SUBMIT:
Email: [email protected]
Facebook Messenger: Send directly to Dana Davis
Deadline: December 1st

Please include with your photos:
1️⃣ Name of the miner
2️⃣ Years worked / Mine location (optional)
3️⃣ Your name & relationship to the miner

Please LIKE & SHARE this post to help us reach our local mining families!
