Thank you to Waynesboro.Com for including such a nice post about our new building, "VPC+," on their page. This building will serve as a much-needed space to allow for the expansion of our current manufacturing operations. We thank the Waynesboro community for their continued support and look forward to the official opening of VPC+ as we celebrate our 65th year in business.
A NEW EXPANSION OF A NATIVE BUSINESS
is being built in the city, and it is taking the form of a nice looking modern building. For several months, I had been passing by the area near that building and wondering what the old warehouse was being renovated into. I became particularly interested when I noticed that they were putting a lot more work and money into the building than I had expected. What I thought might have been one of Shields Storage's locations began to look like a high tech manufacturing facility.
That's exactly what it is. Virginia Panel Corporation is building a new expansion of their business on New Hope Road near Edward Avenue. I suspect that many people haven't even noticed the work being done there, since it sits just outside of the main flow of local traffic. I was able to see it just after turning onto Ivy Street from King Avenue and passing 7-Eleven. The building is partially behind 7-Eleven and near Cheuvront's Plumbing Supply, near the place where New Hope Road dead-ends at the Poplar Avenue railroad crossing.
The details on the building began to look more modern and sleek, and recently the logo was placed on the front, revealing it to be a new Virginia Panel Corporation location. It was time to stop by and take some pictures.
VPC designs, manufactures and markets interconnect solution products for a variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, new space, defense, medical, telecommunication, and more. The 65 year old company began as a licensee to IBM before branching out to other industries and clients. Their web site is: https://www.vpc.com.
Their existing facility at 1400 New Hope Road is just down the street from the new facility. They employ a couple of hundred people globally and are an important part of Waynesboro's manufacturing base.
We look forward to seeing the place when it is completed.
