With extreme cold temperatures, furnace exhaust vents can freeze or become blocked by ice or snow. A blocked exhaust can cause dangerous carbon monoxide to build up inside your home.

Stay safe by:
• Checking furnace exhaust and intake pipes daily during extreme cold
• Clearing snow and ice away from all vents
• Keeping at least 2–3 feet of clearance around exterior vent pipes
• Never chipping ice with sharp objects that could damage the vent
• Making sure working carbon monoxide alarms are installed on every level of your home

Thngs to do before extreme temperatures and significant snow.
