Your attic might be costing you more than you think.

In most Wisconsin homes (especially those built before 2010), there simply isn’t enough insulation up top. And because heat rises, that means the air you’re paying to heat (or cool) is escaping straight through your roof.

By sealing attic air leaks and adding blown-in insulation, you can:

-Keep warm air inside during colder months
-Hold cool air in during the summer
-Create more consistent temperatures throughout your home
-Reduce overall energy use

At Green Homeowners United, we start by sealing the small gaps that lead to big energy loss, then bring your attic up to proper insulation levels for long-term performance.

And with 2026 funding still available through the Inflation Reduction Act and Focus on Energy, many homeowners can significantly reduce the cost of these upgrades.

A more comfortable home starts from the top down.

Spring is a great time to improve your home’s efficiency, and your basement is one of the most important places to start.

In many Wisconsin homes, especially older ones, uninsulated basement walls can account for a significant portion of total heat loss. That means higher energy bills in the winter and harder-to-control temperatures year-round.

Basement insulation works by creating a thermal barrier that helps:

-Reduce heat loss in colder months
-Keep your home cooler in the summer
-Improve overall comfort on main living floors
-Lower long-term energy costs

Funding for these upgrades is still available in 2026. Through programs supported by the City of Milwaukee, the Inflation Reduction Act, and Focus on Energy, eligible homeowners may receive:

-A no-cost home energy assessment
-Basement wall insulation and air sealing
-Significant cost savings through grants and rebates

This program is available to qualifying homeowners in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, and Racine counties.

If you’ve been thinking about improving your home’s efficiency, this is a practical, high-impact place to start.

Wisconsin is quickly becoming a national leader in implementing the HOMES energy rebate program, and Green Homeowners United is helping lead the way.

Across the United States, there have been roughly 700–800 completed HOMES projects so far. More than 300 of those projects are happening here in Wisconsin, with GHU leading the majority of that work.

But the impact goes beyond the numbers!

At Green Homeowners United, our mission is to make energy-efficient home upgrades accessible to all Wisconsin homeowners, helping families lower energy costs, improve comfort, and reduce carbon emissions through sustainable improvements.

As a union-backed company, we’re also committed to fair wages, workforce training, and strengthening the local workforce while helping homeowners access the rebates and incentives available through programs like the Inflation Reduction Act.

Every home improved and every job created helps build a stronger, more sustainable future for Wisconsin.

Your electrical panel is the heart of your home’s power system. If it’s outdated, undersized, or unsafe, it can limit upgrades, strain your system, and even create fire risks.

Many older homes in Wisconsin are still running on 60-amp or 100-amp service, which is not nearly enough for today’s appliances, EV chargers, heat pumps, and modern electrical demands.

Through programs under the Inflation Reduction Act, qualifying Milwaukee-area households may receive rebates to upgrade their electric panel (sometimes covering 50% to 100% of the cost).

Upgrading your electrical box can:

- Improve electrical safety
- Support heat pumps, EV chargers & electrification
- Reduce overload risks
- Future-proof your home

At Green Homeowners United, we help Milwaukee-area homeowners navigate the grants and rebates available and handle the upgrade with licensed, high-quality installation.

In winter, heat rises, and most homes built before 2010 don’t have the recommended 16 inches of attic insulation. That means warm air escapes through the roof, driving up heating bills and leaving rooms uncomfortable.

Green Homeowners United seals attic air leaks and adds blown-in insulation to help keep heat where it belongs. And thanks to Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) rebates, qualifying homeowners may be eligible for significant financial support to help cover the cost of these upgrades.

Hey La Crosse homeowners, how well are your walls insulated?

Many homes have little to no insulation inside their exterior walls. That means heat escapes in the winter, your furnace works harder, and your energy bills climb.

Dense pack wall insulation (“drill & fill”) fills those empty wall cavities without major renovation, helping keep your home warmer, more efficient, and more comfortable.

Plus, there are grants and Inflation Reduction Act rebates available right now to help cover the cost for qualifying households in La Crosse.

If your home feels drafty or hard to heat, this could be the upgrade that makes the difference.
