Engraving “The Bavarian Crown” with Emuge Tooling

The Bavarian Crown is more than an eye-catching showpiece. Its intricate geometry demanded advanced manufacturing strategies to achieve both stability and precision.

This unique aluminum workpiece was machined on a Heller CT 4000 mill-turn machine using hyperMILL. The project combines mill-turn machining, simultaneous turning, 5-axis machining, angle head operations and high-performance finishing to produce outstanding surface quality.

One of the biggest challenges was the crown’s thin-walled design. To keep the part stable throughout machining, the internal cavities were filled with wax before the final operations. The entire process was verified with hyperMILL VIRTUAL Machining and the NC Optimizer, ensuring reliable, collision-free machining even in hard-to-reach areas.
