Here’s a manufacturing tip: Aluminum requires its own set of fabrication guidelines, and those guidelines affect decisions about hole design.
Because aluminum requires a larger bend radius to avoid cracking, closely spaced small features may deform during bending. When possible, avoid placing holes or slots within the bend area. When laser cutting, holes should generally be at least as large as the material thickness. For aluminum, we recommend a minimum diameter of 1.5 times the material thickness.
