August’s Sportworks Spotlight features Zach Ruschell, Graduate Civil Engineer at Sportworks Design!

A recent graduate of Ohio Northern University, Zach supports the planning and design of athletic facility projects, with a focus on site layout, utility design, and grading.

As a former collegiate baseball player, Zach brings an athlete-focused perspective to his work and understands how thoughtful design details can enhance both functionality and user experience. He’s passionate about combining his background in sports and engineering to help create high-quality facilities for schools, universities, and communities.

Nearly one year after opening to the community, Sycamore Trails Park continues to offer new ways to play, gather, and explore. Sportworks Design is proud to highlight our work on this major park revitalization, which included active recreation spaces, accessible amenities, and Sportworks’ first disc golf course.

Our monthly Sportworks Spotlight series continues with Madi Holcomb, Co-Op at Sportworks Design.
In honor of National Intern Day, we’re excited to highlight Madi and the fresh perspective, curiosity, and enthusiasm she brings to the team.
Now in her second co-op with Sportworks, Madi is continuing to gain hands-on insight into athletic facility design and the work that goes into creating spaces where athletes and communities come together.

Next up in our Sportworks Spotlight series is David Higgins, Staff Civil Engineer at Sportworks Design.

David contributes to a variety of athletic facility projects for high school, collegiate, and professional organizations, with a focus on utility design, grading, site layout, synthetic turf fields, and running tracks.

Starting as a co-op and joining Sportworks full-time in 2022, David has continued to grow his technical knowledge through hands-on project work, mentorship, and involvement with the American Sports Builders Association, including completing the ASBA Fields Academy in 2024.

We’re proud of the thoughtful approach, curiosity, and commitment David brings to the Sportworks team.

Our Sportworks Spotlight series continues with Jaxon Jaggers, Assistant Project Manager at Sportworks Design.

Jaxon brings civil engineering experience focused on athletic facility development, supporting projects through site development, stormwater solutions, grading, utility design, and design coordination.

With experience on projects like Purcell Marian High School’s Staubach Stadium and Moeller High School’s Kremchek Baseball Stadium, Jaxon brings a detail-oriented approach and a passion for creating facilities that serve athletes, schools, and communities.
