Our own Senior PM Mike MacCall making sure soil is fit for building in New Jersey. Test pits and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing help engineers evaluate subsurface soil conditions before construction begins. Test pits provide a direct look at soil layers, existing fill, groundwater conditions, and potential unsuitable materials. DCP testing measures soil pe*******on resistance, helping engineers assess relative soil strength and consistency.

Together, these methods provide valuable information for determining foundation suitability, identifying potential settlement concerns, and recommending necessary soil improvements. Early testing helps reduce construction surprises, avoid costly remediation, and ensure structures are built on a stable foundation.
